Many of my Saudi colleagues wish to visit Thailand, but they can run into trouble on return to Saudi if their Thai entry exit stamps are discovered in their passports.

Is it possible to get stamped on an attached piece of paper in the same way that visitors to Israel can?

They would need, not only the entry and exit stamps, but also a visa (either in advance at a consulate or a visa on arrival). I am very doubtful that Thailand would agree to omit these from the regular passport pages. Exceptional political considerations in the Middle East have motivated Israel's approach. For Thailand, it is different, and the accommodation you suggest would risk the wider relationship between the countries (important trading partners).

Supposedly some Saudis have managed this by first going to Malaysia and using a travel agent to facilitate entry in Thailand without stamps in passport.

No, I have no links to confirm this. Purely word of mouth and possibly not entirely true.

If the Saudis are that eager to come to Thailand they might spend some time asking friends, Googling, whatever to see if that's anything more than an unsubstantiated rumor.

So Saudis can't enter Thailand? Strangely though, Thai Muslim hajj pilgrims are not only permitted to enter Saudi, but THAI Airways even flies them there on charter flights from Hat Yai and Bangkok directly to Mecca during the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

That is not what was said. They can get a 15 day visa on arrival so it is not a problem for them to enter the country.

Not sure where the OP got his info from. I don't think they can get in trouble if they have been here. Perhaps questioned about why they visited here.

Most countries consider alteration of a passport to be a serious crime, not a good idea.

Yeah, I know Saudis can enter Thailand without any problems on the Thai side, that is not the issue. The problem is from the Saudi side, which says that it is illegal for them to do so. They are liable to a hefty fine and travel ban if found out on their return, or at a later date.

Many Saudis do visit. But they take a risk. The reason I asked the original question was on behalf of some of my colleagues who would like to visit, but wish to eliminate the risk.

Correct, it's illegal unless they have a business visa.

Basically, what most Saudis do is take the risk that immigration don't look through all of the pages of the passport, and only consider where the flight has come from, Bahrain, Dubai, etc etc, seeing how there are no direct commercial flights between the two countries.

Anyways, it seems from the replies that there is no way round this, so they'll just have to take their chances.

Which is why my Saudi colleagues asked me to try and find out some information.

Some years ago I was told that, after visiting Thailand, Saudis go to Malaysia, lose their passport, get a replacement and then return home.

Their passport then only shows entry and exit from Malaysia, no mention of Thailand.

Of course, they don't use a land crossing!
