Lawyers for Thaksin’s son win partial victory

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has agreed to interrogate another eight defence witnesses in the money-laundering case against Panthongtae Shinwatra, son of fugitive ex-premier Thaksin.

Panthongtae's lawyers had asked the DSI to include a total of another 21 defence witnesses but only eight were approved because the agency said the rest were not relevant.

The eight additional witnesses include former investigators in the case as well as a private secretary, accountant and other people familiar with the funds transfer involved in the case.

Panthongtae is accused of violating the money-laundering law after allegedly receiving Bt10 million from the Krisada Mahanakorn real estate firm linked to a multi-billion-baht fraudulent loan provided by state-owned Krungthai Bank.

Won't matter. Precious already has his escape route planned.

A thread for the anti-Thaksin members to dump off steam!

His case is a great incentive to keep taksin quiet during this special time.

How dose that help his case that others are also investigated?

would his culpability be any less if others will be also found to

be guilty?.....

He is being very quiet isn't he? Unusually so, since late August isn't it?

I'm sure it is totally unrelated, but has anyone seen his younger sister since about the same time? Four months is a jolly long time to stay indoors...

I am not normally given to conspiracy theories, but clearly something very odd indeed is going on...

My take is that once political activity ban is lifted, we will hear from her. Her endorsement of the next PM candidate is important.

If, and it is only supposition, if she is in a position to speak.

My take is that it is possible that she is being held incommunicado, and that is a likely reason for her brother's unusual "political purdah". I am far from convinced that she "fled the country".

Her son went into the military academy just after she left.

His son is facing a lengthy prison sentence .

That is a super incentive to be quiet.

I'm sorry, I have to disagree.

She was let go and she took the ticket.

Yes, I am really surprised how quiet everyone has gone. What has happened to the watchers, barely  a peep from any party these days.

Another mystery of the Orient:saai:

A chip off the old block. Or apple hasn't fallen far from the tree. Good work young fella, Dad would be proud.

Yes, possible, perhaps probable. I thought that her son was just doing the normal High School reserve cadet training rather than the military academy? Mind you I'm sure that they are keeping very close tabs on him. What I do feel strange is her complete disappearance,  not a peep nor a sighting for four months!

Perhaps I have an overexcited imagination - but I have just finished reading a book on the Plantagenet Kings of England. A common practice was taking a family member hostage, to ensure, in the nicest possible way, the compliance of potential rivals...

Yingluck isn't in Thailand.

You have info where she is then?

Interesting theory, but in the age of mobile phones/internet etc it is not too hard to believe that Yingluck is not being held in a dungeon somewhere against her will. There are too many ways for her presence in Thailand to be betrayed. She may well be in the U.K. keeping a very low profile. But as you infer, the silence is almost deafening.

I imagine her silence is part of the process for Political Asylum in the UK.

I must admit I have entertained the same idea. But I doubt the family would have remained quiet about that. I am not sure which training he is doing. But he as far as I know is still under the care of the military. Her husband has been quiet. It's just a weird feeling all this quietness that's going on.

I feel like everybody is whispering, but I can't hear what they are saying.

She can't be in Thailand. The cops have prosecuted someone for driving her to the border. [emoji3]

They are all in Prawit cabinet those days. He might have one around his writ though :)

Yes. But what nags away at me (putting it perhaps a tad melodramatically) is not the silence - that could be explained by the application for political asylum - but the complete lack of any sightings. It really is as if she has disappeared into thin air. There are many ways that her presence in Thailand might be betrayed, but there are even more ways in which her presence outside of Thailand could/would be revealed. That, combined with the silence, and lack of comment from Thaksin, is what I find surprising. It is almost as if they have found a way to silence him.

Money that he already acknowledged receiving. How many extra witnesses will be required to overturn the product of his own big mouth?

It is quite suspect, indeed, to receive money from a company chaired by Meechai Ruchuphan! :cheesy:

Oh dear oh dear.

Don't forget to put the tin foil hat on!

So the UAE authorities lied when they said she entered the UAE and then left for the UK?

What's quite suspect is to get a large amount of money from the recipient of a high risk loan that his dad made happen for doing nothing. And then give it back quick when the <deleted> hit the fan.

Not sure either are high on the Papparazi's list of interest. And with the trough closed to them for now maybe the lobbyists and PR teams have been scaled down.

If she is considering applying for PA in the UK or other EU country then a very low profile is a wise thing to adopt.

There again, still waters run deep. Maybe a lot going on behind the scenes for all we know.
