Adam72 Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Hi, My Thai partner and I are looking for some help. We’re trying to make it work and would really benefit from regular appointments with a counselor/ therapist/ psychologist or perhaps a kind soul experienced in Thai/Farang relationships. We’re having difficulty finding a bilingual counselor in the Chanthaburi area, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Adam
Sheryl Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 You're not going to find this in Chantaburi. If you are willing to travel to Bangkok, these places have both Thai and Western counselors, lots of experience with cross-cultural relationships and can help: http://www.psiadmin.com/ http://ncs-counseling.com/
thaibeachlovers Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I have had "counselling" in the past and while it helped a bit, it probably wasn't worth the money. Seems that it's depends on whether you get a good counsellor or one with an agenda, or one that is just useless anyway. While obviously I don't know what the problem is, or what you have done so far, I believe that if 2 people really want to sort their problems and are prepared to honestly discuss without conditions, and set aside enough time to do so, in an environment without distractions, and do not judge or disparage the other, it would help greatly. However, it has to come from both sides. My wife always refused to discuss our problems despite my best efforts to get her to talk about our situation, and the outcome was inevitable, sadly. Of course, no discussion is of use if either side refuses to act to resolve the problems raised.
