Sept. 19th - Was It A Coup D'etat?

The following quote appeared on page 2 of today's Post:

Gen Vinai, secretary-general of the Council for National Security, said: ''The Sept 19 takeover was not a coup d'etat, but a military intervention. We didn't want to do it, but we had to.''

Was it a coup or not? Any opinions?

Thought maybe it was a sports coup of some kind but then couldn't figure out how a general was involved. Seemed a very odd place to post such a thing

Anyway, seems like hair splitting: coup, military intervention. Just another form of spin, IMO
