Pol General Chalermkiat Srivorakan

With no major crime reported, police said they are satisfied with the operation to ensure public safety during the New Year holidays.

After being briefed on Thursday about the nationwide peace and order operation on Thursday, Pol General Chalermkiat Srivorakan, the Royal Thai Police deputy commissioner, said he was satisfied with the results.

Chalermkiat listed the main achievements as the lack of serious crime, and the increased public participation in the number of houses enrolled in the project “leave your home with the police” project. The increased participation signified growing trust in the police to guard their properties while they were away on vacation.

A total of 9,007 houses participated in the house-watch program this year, 1,785 of them in Bangkok.

Chalermkiat also claimed success in suppressing serious crimes and drugs crimes during the New Year period, especially in the North and Northeast. In those regions, his force worked closely with local authorities, soldiers, and local volunteers in preventing serious crime, he said.

He said police arrested 12 people for the crime of celebratory shooting into the sky, including controversial rock star Seksan Sukphimai, or Sek Loso.

Good to know, well done RTP.

No serious crime, clearly fake news being published in other media that continue to report murders, shootings, assualts, theft and general carnage on the roads.

Once they've sobered-up a little and remember where they put the guns and knives, it'll be business as usual.

Chalermkiat listed the main achievements as the lack of serious crime, and the increased public participation in the number of houses enrolled in the project “leave your home with the police” project.

Only 1,785 Bangkok netizens trusted the RTP to look after their houses and he considers that a great achievement..:ermm:

Quite shocking to hear that the police say there was no serious crime over the holidays.

My gf's 14 year old niece was shot and killed late Monday night. The shooter was known and no charges laid. We can all figure out why.

Not sure if it even made it to the news.

Criminals take holidays too, with the proceeds of the other 51 weeks of the year.

i suppose it depends on the interpretation of 'serious'- personally i would disagree with his statement but no one cares what I think!

Of course the billion baht watches are not news,  just calander material

like their lying owner is not news, but wished his ugly mug was not

in the news so much.

Geezer

I would be satisfied if I got the public to do my job, and I got paid for doing nothing

the fact that there were 50% more drunks driving on the roads during the holidays is not a serious crime????

There was almost 7 days of continuous crime by the RTP themselves, as they systematically fleeced the tourists at various checkpoints in all the major tourist areas.
