Why do they always fondle their smartphones whilst making a complaint?

After losing his pretty gold chain he is in fear of losing his 1000,000 baht valued smartphone, particularly in a dodgy place like a police station.  He may in reality just be looking for a picture of him wearing this large heavy toilet chain. Seems these valuable chains are easy to remove, or did he fail to mention it was yanked off him and he was incapable of giving chase of a man in high heels.

I am not sure the insurance company will entertain him.Mine was snatched in Mexico in front of people My insurance company declined the claim as I was travelling for more than 6 months outside the UK?
