White House doctor says Trump in 'excellent' overall health

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump had a normal score on a cognitive exam and is in excellent health, although he could benefit from a lower-fat diet and more exercise, the White House physician said on Tuesday.

"In summary, the president's overall health is excellent," Dr. Ronny Jackson told reporters. "He continues to enjoy the significant long-term cardiac and overall health benefits that come from a lifetime of abstinence from tobacco and alcohol."

The examination took place on Friday toward the end of a week in which Trump's mental fitness for the job had come under intense scrutiny after a controversial book, "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House," portrayed him as a childlike and mercurial.

Jackson said Trump had performed well on a cognitive assessment, which the president had requested.

"The president is mentally very sharp, very intact. ... He is fit for duty," Jackson said. "I think he will remain fit for duty for the remainder of this term and even for the remainder of another (four-year) term if he's elected."

Good to know this. He can be given full credit and responsibility for his statements and actions.

Prosecutors take note.

The mention by the doctor about his fitness seven years into the future is extremely suspicious and indicative of bias. A typical doctor wouldn't say such a thing.

Typical doctor?

He is serving in the Navy... as a Rear Admiral, nothing to do with a Typical doctor!

Indeed. He follows the president's orders in more ways than one.

Think about this ethically.

Doctors don't normally make long term predictions about your fitness for stressful work many years into the future, especially if you're already old.

This "doctor" also said that if trump had a better diet and exercise regime he could live for 200 years.

He has sunk his credibility with that comment.

Here's an exclusive photo of the physical stress test.

I noticed on Fox they're squawking about a press question about his WAIST SIZE. I don't think that was released. Actually WAIST SIZE is very relevant to health as height/weight from BMI doesn't tell us anything about where the fat is. Fat concentrated around the waist is particularly troublesome.

You could have mental issues and still be in perfectly good health .... just saying.

The doctor also told Trump to lose weight, he is 1lb shy of being obese.

A cheeseburger away! I think they're fudging the BMI to avoid that label. Just look at him. He's obese.

Quote "White House doctor says Trump in 'excellent' overall health"

... soon after the wise Doctor checked himself into the nearest lunatic asylum.

I think the doctor summed it up when he put a lot of down to good genetics.   His lifestyle is not conducive to long-term health, but it is fairly obvious that in spite of everything, he is in pretty good health.

I doubt that the doctor would lie.   He might withhold information, but not lie.

No doctor knows the fitness of an old man with risk factors (overweight, high cholesterol) seven years in the future. So, I think, actually he did lie, and as he lied about that, it calls his entire ethics into question.

Great.  So now his supporters will add another "achievement" to their list:

He's still president!

He says he's sane!

He's still alive!

No.   He had a cognitive exam, and that is a memory test.   You can be as mad as a hatter and still have a good memory.

Just seen the test (Montreal Cognitive Assessment 7.1) he had supposed to have passed.  Pretty straightforward for anyone 12 or over.  I am not sure if it's true that Donald had some difficulty in filling in his name at the top of the page but who knows?

Before attacking the ethics of this doctor you should actually learn a bit about the man.

You seem to be incapable of a simple google search, so I will help you out.

He has served as White House physician during the past three administrations and was the appointed physician to the president for President Barack Obama. He currently serves as the appointed physician to the president for President Donald J. Trump.

His awards include, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), as well as other individual, unit and campaign awards. He is also designated as a diving and undersea medical officer, naval parachutist, Fleet Marine Force Warfare qualified officer, and submarine warfare qualified medical officer.

Do you actually think any ethical doctor of any kind can proclaim a patient will be perfectly fit 7 years in the future? That smells.

If you were not so blinded bye Trump hate you would know doctors can and do many tests to predict your future health.

No ethical doctor can make such long term predictions in a definitive way. They can speak of probabilities.

Indeed, he is.

But is the doctor OK?

Has the doctor been infected with trump style SHARED PSYCHOSIS?

The danger, Lee said, is that Trump’s courtiers do this for too long and succumb to “shared psychosis,” in which they come to “share his view of the world and lose touch with reality.”

They might even come to believe that a sedentary 71-year-old with significant plaque in his coronary arteries, high cholesterol and borderline obesity is the very picture of health.

Maybe I SHOULD go to KFC??

If you had any medical knowledge you would know it is impossible to know that with any kind of certainty.
