Hi there,

I had a 3 months visa in 2017 and i left thailand in November 2017, i'm planning to come see my Thai wife for less than 30 days this month. Will i be able to get a tourist 30 days visa on arrival with my French Passeport ?

Is there any delay between entering the country ?

It's not a visa on arrival that's something else, but your French passport will get you a 30 day visa exemption. Just join the regular immigration queue (ignore the queue for visa on arrival).

There's no requirement to be out of the country for any specific period of time so you should be fine.

Do ensure you have the equivalent of 20k Baht in cash (any major currency) and it may be an idea to be able to show you work outside Thailand. The chances are low that you will be asked but immigration do seem to be becoming more, er, vigilant, for people suspected of working here on tourist entries.

Ok thanks Crossy. Ok i will bring the proof of my work and bring cash too. Appreciate your quick reply :)

I forgot to mention. You need to be able to show flights out within the 30 days.

Again immigration rarely ask, but you may not be allowed to board your flight in if you don't meet this requirement.

When you mean flight out, it can be a reservation or a booking, not the full paid flight right?

That would depend on your airline. As noted immigration rarely check, they rely on the airlines to enforce this rule.

There is a particularity at Thai Embassy in Paris if you have stay in LOS during 90 days and come back France they will not deliver a Tourist Visa before you have stay 90 days in France .

So yes Visa exemption is the best way you can use.

Yes´ the thai embassy in France is one unfriendly place ! I will never ask there again for  a tourist visa. Also, they make up their  own rules. The best for anyone French wanting to stay more than 30 days, is to come into’ thailand on visa exempt and  an extension after, or get a visa from a neighbouring country.

I found the embassy in Paris very amicable. I went in for a tourist visa and he recomended a non immo visa, I told him I didn't have sufficient funds to show, he said don't worry about it and gave me the non immo visa.

You could always get a single-entry Non-O to visit your wife - I think the Thai Embassy in France will do those (maybe even friendly for them, per above).

If you do this often, check for a 1 year Non-O Multiple - and if not available in France, pick it up in Savannakhet Laos.
