A photo on social media purported to show former prime minister Thaksin and Yingluck Shinawatra in Beijing

BANGKOK — Junta chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha lashed out at reporters Monday for seeking his opinion on reported sightings of the now-fugitive former premier his coup drove from power.

Although Prayuth initially had “no comment” about photos showing influential siblings Thaksin Shinawatra and Yingluck Shinawatra in Beijing, the junta strongman later said the authorities were doing everything to bring the pair to face justice in Thailand and suggested the media should not pay attention to them.

In a free and fair election, either one would kick Prayut's ass and he knows it.   Keep the photos coming!

I think it would a lot wiser to be focused on taking care of election business first

Uh, maybe because they can't order other people to not take their picture in a public place? Or was that idea too radical for you?

They're probably making a sweet deal with the Chinese themselves.  Maybe for a favor, China helps them regain their position in Thailand.

As if the media cares what he suggests

Seems some are so possessed with this pair that any photos or media mention of them annoys them no end !

The Thaksins are still more popular than Prayuth and his Junta cronies could ever be and it irks him....

DER why now then all of a sudden are they being photographed in public, Thaksin has out of the spotlight for years DER

The media publishes photos because a) the public are interested in them and B) to highlight the fact they have yet to be brought to justice

Exactly the PM can all the baby kissing he likes, just a picture ( A staged picture imo) will inspire the Thais more than the PM and this Thai Niyom nonsense

He's been keeping a low profile for years but have been spotted and photographed at regular intervals......DER.

It seems that Khaosod thinks that the coup drove Yingluck from power when she was not even PM at the time of the coup.

Wikipedia:

"On 9 December 2013, Yingluck dissolved the country's parliament and called early elections in the face of anti-government protests.[68]

On 7 May 2014, the Constitutional Court unanimously dismissed Yingluck from office in consequence of her removing an appointee of the an earlier government, Thawil Pliensri, from his post as National Security Council secretary-general in 2011.

The remaining ministers selected Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisan to replace Yingluck as caretaker prime minister as protests continued.[10]

The RTA intervened on 20 May 2014, when its commander, General Prayut, exercised the power under the act promulgated by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) entitled Martial Law, BE 2457 (1914),[11] to impose martial law nationwide from 03:00."

It's reasonable to assume the CC was "silent partner" in the coup as it would have been extremely dangerous for the military to move against the Government while the much loved peoples PM (Yingluck) was in office.

You can see from their faces they are quaking in their boots.

Interesting, I just got my new Chinese visa, I wonder what answer they gave to question 3.3 - have you a criminal record ? Any conviction with a jail sentence over 6 months will result in visa being denied.  :whistling:

But let us not forget, as it is really quite relevant, that the coup had the effect of preventing the election which would very probably returned Yingluck and Pheu Thai to office.

Not that that had anything to do with the entirely altruistic and spontaneous decision to stage a coup...

Let the man fume. At least that keeps him from annoying the heck out of everyone with his silly songs and awful poems.
