I'm American and have an expiring Non B visa attached to my Thai company of which I am managing director. My accountant says I have to leave the country and come back in on a tourist visa until they can complete a copyright application for my company in order to franchise it. Then I'd leave again and apply for a new Non B and receive a work permit. But a tourist visa needs a booked flight out of Thailand within 30 days. Why can't I apply for another Non B now? This doesn't seem right.

Also, my accountant says they don't know yet how much a copyright will cost. Any idea?

You don't need a ticket out of the country within 30 days to apply for a single entry tourist visa. No ticket out is needed if you apply in Vientiane. If you apply for a one at a location that requires one most will accept one 90 days after from the date you apply.

To get a 30 day visa exempt entry may require a ticket out within 30 days to board your flight to here. At a land border crossing it would not be needed.

To apply for a non-b visa at a nearby embassy or consulate requires a work permit or a work permit application approval letter.
