Best (legal) streaming TV solution

CrossBones

Recommended Posts

I have Netflix working on an android box. All the other android stuff I cant get working any more.

Netflix and Iflix are good which I use. I want to sometimes watch blockbuster movies which I can pay for.

Im sick of the android box because we get frequent power cuts for a few seconds which means I have to set the date and time again. Also its a clunky thing and I dont really like it.

I have used Amazon firestick with Netflix. It is good  and I think its possible to install Iflix on it somehow.

Amazon prime doesnt work in Thailand. I like Apple TV but I think it only works with Netflix in Thailand? no infix or other content?

What other (legal) services can I get?

The main issue you run into with the 'legal' content services is geo-restriction.

If you have a way to create a hardware-based VPN Tunnel to the country of distribution and the resulting connection doesn't have too much ping time, you might be able to be quasi-legal and get the paid content you desire.

Otherwise, you're stuck with seeing what the local providers (TRUE, AIS, DTAC, TOT, etc) have on offer for IPTV streaming options, but they'll be mostly focused on delivering content for Thai language viewers.

Get a cheap UPS from Lazada like these.

What version of Android are you running?

Have you tried Kodi?

There are many legal streaming sources which can be accessed by Kodi addons.

Depending on where you are from and what your viewing preferences are USTVNow and FilmOn TV are two addons that provide great content, however you do need to have an account.

I'm not sure why you think Film On is legal. It has UK channels available outside the UK which makes it anything but.

On 1st May 2017, all channels were set to "Paid" - for both SD and HD quality - which restricts free viewing time to 2 minutes.

It is I believe a subscription service not FTA, therefore legal.

There is even a FilmOm TV app available from the Google Play Store.

I'm certain the BBC don't agree with a 3rd party profiting from their investment in programming.

Im not watching a l lot of tv. I get aljazeera free now on cable for news. I dont want to watch the BBC socialist propaganda anyway. I can get Netflix and Iflix. Whats good for paying for the occasional blockbuster movie? Go do Apple TV? or Amazon prime (which seems to be available overseas on firestick basic edition only).

Netflix is about $7 a month. Iflix is $3. I think amazon prime another $7. So all in under $20 a month pretty reasonable for all that content without having to constantly update Kodi bullshit etc?

How does Gomovies123.org stand in the LOS legality stakes?

for which, as far as the spread of available movies goes... I haven't failed to find any Title that I have searched for...

oh! there was one exception:

The 'Ugly American', which was simply on YouTube

One of the better ones but also one of the more expensive as well.
It also is not legal.

Well the OP did put (legal) in brackets! Pulse operate out of Singapore, so have less chance of suffering the fate of ExpatTV which operated from within Thailand.

While I do understand the desire to avoid cheap chinese knockoff android boxes, there are some nice slick higher quality ones.

Because I am a fan of android TV (not just android on a tv box) I have Mi Box (international versions) on all my TVs which gives both android TV, obviously Kodi and apps, and a build in chromecast streamer. This combined with its decent quality bluetooth remote works perfectly for my needs (not 4k HD) and is a very smooth higher quality box thats still cheap as chips.

For streaming TV is by legal you mean 'professional' eg a good service.. I find Play Tv does just fine.. Simple enough for my wife to watch all Thai channels, has the few sports I might want to watch, and channels enough. Personally I barely watch live TV, everything is downloaded and stored on my home net, but for UFC, MotoGP, or news in the even of something global happening I want to follow, it works fine and again costs pennies.

Be careful with movies downloaded from Youtube, Particularly Lifetime Movies, they regularly have the same movies with different titles, you download them then find out you have watched them before.

YouTube has a few items, including Bloomberg news.

You can get NHK on most devices, which has some good news.

You can pay and stream CNBC, but not useful to most people.

I could not find a legitimate way to get CNN.

Amazon prime is here in Thailand, but only a couple of shows are available.

The biggest issue is that most content is geo locked, and Thai (and expats) are not a major market for most companies, so we get left out. Hence the grey market.

Next best is to use VPN and pretend to be in the UK or usa.

I use HDPrime.tv.  For about 340bt. per-month, I get a ton of sports and other programming.  No subscription; pay by True Money as you go.  Do need decent streaming capability.  Cheers...  Doc

isnt HD prime simply u-play at twice the price ??

HD Prime for farangs.. u-play for Thais.. Prices set up accordingly.

When I had a u-play problem in europe the support comped me HD Prime.. Was the same stuff but farang price v Thai price given you dont need the western servers.

If you buy one you need to make 100% sure it's the international version, not the Chinese version:

The specs of the Chinese version are lower with often 1GB RAM and and / or 4GB flash, it's the specs here you're looking for:
