But??? What if you lost all the reciepts and at the same time managed to fall into a controlled loss of memory that prohibits your mind to focus on such a small and irrelevant issue? It can happen to anybody! They have a whole country and it´s people to think of. 

A.  The guy can't read a wristwatch.  Takes time to fess up without losing face.

 

B.  He has so many, and still can't find one that keeps "Thai time". 

 

C.  "These are all $20 Chinese knock-offs.  My sister-in-law makes big bucks selling them, and gives me some from time to time."

D. You get ten free watches for every submarine you purchase. He gave 5 away to friends.

More time for people to forget. Thats the solution for everything corrupt but people wont let this slip. 

My guess, it will be the first incident of somnambulist borrowing. 

The way this is panning out there will be an election before Prawit finally manages to account for all the watches.

They expect the corruption index will shine them in a better light, yet allow the 2nd in command to continue delaying the investigation. If these watches are actually someone else's. It would seem to be a simple matter of having the owners fees up and admit it. 

I think the world has already made their decisions about whether corruption has been reduced or if it has only been moved to other people in power. 

Personally, I think all politicians are corrupt in one form or another. But at least they have learned to hide it better..

until all is forgotten - they hope.

He could tell them to bugger off anytime he wanted too, and sadly they would! Any excuse would do.

 

But they're trying, with the usual gifted ineptness with which they're becoming legendary for, to come up with some plausible explanation the public will swallow. And of course, by not being rushed in doing so, there's no loss of face and everyone can see who the big cheese is.

Whatever happens, the watches, where the money to buy them came from, were all taxes paid, whose name is on the watch company records as buyer, unusual wealth and such questions will not be asked or followed up. Once the excuse has been declared acceptable and case closed any one poking around will be swatted with defamation suits.

 

Unless of course he found them all on his doorstep one morning from one or more secret admirers. Bit like Jatuporn and his valuable amulet collection

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) expects to get a clarification from deputy premier Prawit Wongsuwan over the controversial luxury watch case next month, further extending the deadline for the anti-graft agency to wrap up the politically-sensitive case.

 

Prawit has been accused of not declaring the 25 expensive watches he has been seen wearing on different occasions.

According to NACC chairman Pol General Watcharaphol Prasarnrachakit, Prawit will be asked to verify the specific incident in which he was alleged to have one of the 25 luxury watches on his wrist before the agency can go ahead with this case.

A notice will be sent to Prawit in the next one or two days. After that, the embattled deputy premier will have another 15 days to respond to the agency’s request, so the case will become clearer in March at the earliest. Previously, Prawit postponed meetings with the anti-graft agency three times due to his busy work schedule.

 

Meanwhile, the NACC is closely monitoring the announcement of 2017 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) by Transparency International in which Thailand last year received just 35 points out of a total 100.

 

The government earlier said it aims to reduce corruption so that the country gets 50 or more points by 2021. At present, the CPI covers a total of 180 countries worldwide.

Thing is, he could concoct the greatest excuse in the history of excuses (which he won't), but it is too late now. The time it has taken, nobody will believe it except our Steven and not even he will, not really.
