The Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) is now expanding corruption probe to cover all eight provinces in Upper North after earlier probes in Chiang Mai and Nan gained strong grounds of corruption by local authorities of the centres for the protection of the destitutes.

PACC Region 5 director Krisana Krasaevej said random checks of the destitute people in Chiang Mai and Nan provinces by his officials initially gained grounds of irregularities by local authorities.

He said PACC officials spent over two weeks in making random survey of destitute people in Chiang Mai and Nan. Some destitute people asked by the PACC officials said they were visited by social welfare workers and asked for photo copies of their ID cards with claim that they would used to reimburse funds for them.

Is it just me, but how do you carry out random checks of destitute people?

Doesn't that infer they have nowhere to live? Perhaps the officials did a sweep of park benches in the area.

Must be a first - northeners threatened with prosecution for corruption and not one claim that it is politically motivated.  OTOH, nothing in the way of recognition for actually doing something to STOP corruption either.

You know what they say Corruption starts in BK and spreads as the others have to catch up with the trends

Ho ho ho, no. I have spent enough time in villages to know that they are just as corrupt, and more depraved, than the cities. At least in the cities the daughters are away from family members and there is a shortage of calves.

Hold your horses the headline is very misleading. The correct headline is; "The Royal Thai Police are going to Proble Corruption of the Royal Thai Police to insure that the share dividends from the Northern Tea Plantation are  being shared''

I think what they mean is that they checked at random those who were on the lists with their documents to see if they really received the money that was allocated to them. By doing so they found irregularities so they are going to do a full scale investigation.

I of course can only applaud this, too bad its not Prawit and his watches but at least its something and all corruption should be stopped. Good thing that they can't call this political

This little racket must have been a real money maker until a couple of college kids dropped a dime on the greedy S>O>Bs. Started in KK and now spread country. Your government sets up a nice program which involves cash hand outs and you do not set up any checks to ensure truthfulness

  • 2 weeks later...

The Exxon corporation cares more about the worldwide development of sustainable energy, and lowering the price of oil to benefit mankind, than the Thai government cares about destitute people, or even the common man. And there is no fight against corruption being waged at this time. It is all a ruse. A false flag operation. A total and complete deception, a publicity campaign being waged in the name of garnering support and votes, should an election occur, and the Little man decide to continue his incompetent reign. Same is taking place now, with the little guy touring Issan at the moment.
