Like the queen, she has a German heritage, Phillip comes from the royal Greek family but has a Danish heritage but they are still English, bunch of mongrels really. Tests done on English DNA has shown a greater similarity to the DNA of Germans than to the Welsh DNA, probably nobody was allowed into wales unless you could swing a pickaxe in the coal mine and sing at the same time.

Actually, it is either by place of birth or by descent. That's a logical OR not a logical AND. So I can choose. I can state that I am British because I was born in Yorkshire. I am also British because my father was British. Now whether I can claim to be a Scot by descent I don't know but I do hope so. Maybe RR can shed some light on this murky corner ?

I'm sorry but you can't claim to be British. It is obvious from your posts that long term exposure to Thai culture has changed your perspective.

I propose for the future you refer to yourself as Thitish, the h of course is silent

If it is by descent the royal family is in trouble, wouldn't like to unmix the heritage in that lot and now they are getting an American in to the mix

I find it difficult to believe that 90% of his regt would vote remain within the EU when I have access to various military F/B pages, and most members on these sites voted to leave.

If you read my post, I think I said the vote was for to JOIN the EU or not and 90% voted no.

Looks to be indeterminate at this time. However, a combination of descent and owning a residence must go some way I would have thought?

Grouse..a challenge for you.
Whilst in Edinburgh..one day get a train through to Queen Street Station Glasgow. Jump into a cab and ask the driver to drop you off at the corner of Victoria Road/Calder Street.
Have a slow stroll along Calder Street and have a good look at some of the side streets..eg..Langside Road..Daisy Street etc.
When you come to the junction of Calder Street/Cathcart Road..turn right ..walk up to the junction of Cathcart Road/Allison Street and again turn right.
As you walk along Allison Street..be sure and look at the squalor and also maybe stroll about some of the streets off of Allison Street.
Eventually you be at the junction of Allison Street/Victoria Road.
That is Govanhill..formally a nice area..now an eastern european/pakistani ghetto..sometimes little turf wars between them..child prostitution.people trafficking.drugs.all the rancid stuff that rancid scum do.
You should be ok during hours 11.00am to 4.00pm as area is very well policed..uniformed/plain clothes. No need for "minders".
Govanhill is part of sturgeon's constituancy!!!
When she has a very infrequent constituancy meeting..heavy armed police escort!!!
Sturgeon lives in a very leafy suburb of Glasgow..far from the squalor of her constituants.
She wants to stay in the eu..she wants more lowlife from the likes of Bulgaria.Romania etc to live rent free/access to free health-care/ access to tax-payers hard earned money etc etc.
As I say..please visit Govanhill..a lovely example of the WRONG kind of immigrants..but hey..welcome to the snp's scotland in blunderland.
Hope I've given you food for thought and you will visit Govanhill

I will certainly take a look. It must be awful!

Actually I did go to Glasgow to see Fleetwood Mac play the Hydro in 2015.  3 hours of joy! (Never seen so many Porsches and Range Rovers in one multi story)

Well very humorous I'm sure but frankly I find this to be a place with remarkably few redeeming features. I plan to spend a lot less time here ?

He is as Scottish as Trevor McDonald, he's from Middlesborough.

Oh, please, don’t tarnish Yorkshire, by describing him as a Yorkshireman, nothing could be further from the truth.

Remember Clegg's 'dangerous fantasy' EU army comment?  People talk about the uncertainty of Brexit...but what about the EU?  When the UK joined it was just about trade and now it is ever more about political union.  How long before there is a fully functional, centrally commanded EU army?  The small stepping stones the EU takes towards centralisation of power are very insidious indeed.

There were many lies told, in the lead up to the referendum, but this must go down as one of the most blatant, as at that time it was wildly know, that the unelected bureaucrats in Brussels were already planning for an E.U army.

and people wonder why the British people have so much contempt for the ruling elite.

Far be it from me to assume that I have the right to bestow Scottishness on another, however the SNP take on it, and that of most SNP folk I follow on twitter, is that to for those not born there, to live there, contribute to the growth of the country and support the furtherance of the Scottish people endows one to being Scottish. That is why the SNP has English, French MSPs, councilors and members. I must be honest, when I see images like the following, it makes my heart swell with pride.

It's not really surprising that we have similar dna to germans as the Saxons invaded just after the Romans left.

The English language consists of 60% German, 30% French with a touch of Scandinavian thrown in for good luck.

Correct, and many of the native English fled to Wales when the European hordes invaded the country. That is why there are still place names in Yorkshire that have a striking resemblance to Welsh.

I would agree that this is one of the most blatant lies told in the referendum as it is a half truth and deliberately misses off a crucial piece of information in that foreign and defence policy are still under the control of the U.K. government and therefore the setting up of a EU army would need their permission (and the permission of all member states since each of them hold a veto on this). That is not going to happen here or in many other E.U. countries who would never concede this power to Brussels.

The other big lies in the referendum were also lies of omission such as the infamous £350million on the side of the bus and the one about Turkey joining the E.U. which also forget to mention that the UK (and other E.U. members) had a veto over it - the poster below wouldn’t have the same impact if it correctly stated “but only if we say they can” on it.

I am sceptical about both claims.

My understanding is that Greene King owns Belhaven.  Last year Marstons took over Charles Wells.

I could find nothing, despite searching for almost a minute, suggesting any different.

The Belhaven web site still lists Belhaven 80/-.

Possibly more accurate is that since I moved to the Far East I can't get a pint of Belhaven 80/-, though for a while JBs in Shi Da Road, Taipei was selling Belhaven Stout.  Well worth a trip to Shi Da Road for a couple of pints, though maybe not from Bangkok.

And lets not forget 500 years of Roman occupation and the Latin language...

I think most of us have; I think the Latin that we have now is from more recent Continental influences, from the influence of the church on scholarly activities and education.  More from the Church of Rome than the legions of Rome.

Brexit...The best thing ever.

There must be atleast 1 million foreign workes from Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania etc etc.

usually when they come from their country their cars are filled to the brim with food, coffee, cigarettes, alcohol. Thats means that they are hardly spending any money on shopping in UK and even make money on selling cigarettes and alcohol.

Usually they spend less than 6 months working a year so that they instead pay the taxes in their country. They lowered the wages and took alot of work from UK citizens while they have the same right to social security/benefits, hospitals if something goes wrong. They cant do business with other countries because EU are doing the deals.

So what is going to happen?

After the brexit the foreign workers now has to pay taxes in UK since the EU rules saying that you pay tax in the country where you stay most will now be invalid.

Now they have to pay taxes on stuff they bring in to UK such as food, Alcohol etc etc and buy groceries etc in UK market.

Now all cheap labourers are going to look for Sweden, Denmark, Germany etc so there will suddenly be free apartments. parking lots. higher wages for UK workers, more work. If they kick out someone from UK they can simply choose to come back as they want but that will change with new tightened boarders etc. I could keep on but EU is a failure!
