Video: Renting a motorbike in Pattaya? Watch this first.....

So oddly enough I just got a ticket today. Not for running a red light because I stopped once I saw it and the truck in front of me wasn't blocking it anymore.  But I got it because I stopped in the crosswalk.  Ok I get it.  I did not follow the law.  I broke it.  I am not going to fight over 400baht.

What I have a problem with is the ass holes behind me that kept going through the red light and then the other motorbike riders with no helmets in that were around me.

Yet I got the ticket.

Really seems to me that they could make enough tea money for a lifetime if they posted 100RTP at an intersection and did nothing but write tickets to all offenders for a day.

On a totally different side note I was talking to a lady friend about the ticket and she said that she got a ticket for no helmet and that she had it but didn't want to mess up her hair.  I showed her the video.  She saw the no helmets and saw the helmets fly off.  She said she will strap it on good from now on.  Oddly enough she does have a full face helmet too so she does value her noggin.

You can't make this stuff up, can you? I always stop when pedestrians want to cross the road at the hospital with a zebra crossing.

Unfortunately, it's always the same and vehicles behind me just continue to drive, taking me over on the left, or right hand side.

Last week then the proof. I stopped as usual to let people cross the road, but the driver of the cop car coming from the other lane didn't even slow down and almost killed two pedestrians.

What I find really scary more than being involved in an accident it’s-self, that in this day and age there could be me or people closest to me lying in the road suffering horrific injuries or dead, and the whole event videoed then published online on gore websites, the social media and even here on TV, whereas my tragedy becomes no more then of entertainment value for the ghoulish pleasures of the sadistic.

Try to imagine you go online and suddenly come across photos or videos of your son, or daughter, a sibling, a parent, wife or anyone else close to you, either been involved in a terrible accident, murdered, beaten up or raped, with a*seholes making stupid insensitive comments under the photos or videos.

Fair enough, it’s a good thing to show on film exactly what’s going on as a warning for others to be aware and try to stay safe out there, but what I have seen changed over the years, especially since most people are now armed with smart phones with cameras and video, is the total insensitivity of it all and the many that seem to revel in it. There are even websites dedicated to the sadistic and the weird.

This I find very unsettling and disturbing. Imagine for example, you go to visit your mother’s grave and sitting on top of the burial site are strangers having a picnic, so what’s the difference?

For me personally society is changing in ways that I don’t like, something has gone wrong somewhere, respect and sensitivity towards others is diminishing. It is and will always be my opinion that those who try to exploit the tragedies of others are creeps, no matter how many excuses they use to try and justify themselves.

If you directed you're Ire and venom at the authorities who allow this carnage to go on then maybe just maybe less opportunities for making videos such as at the top of this O P will exist .. Only this morn I seen a taxi bike turn into Klang with a girl no more than 3 or 4 yrs old stood up at the front of the bike .. Pa was riding , another young girl was then sandwiched between him and Mama who was pillion .. None had lids on .. That is quite frankly not only irresponsible it is criminally irresponsible .. The child at the front's life was seriously imperiled by such an act even in a low speed off .. Yet it happens everyday here .. Why aren't the Fed's going pro-active on acts like that .? Maxi screens should be erected alongside the roads that will flash up uncomfortable gruesome injuries when people break the speed limit just to let them know what to expect if it ends in tears .. And as already alluded to and to use the euphemism I've got a dog in this fight so have no problem putting up the photo of one of my leg's just to illustrate what can happen if it all goes wrong .. Apologies to any members who might be offended by it ..

About 30 years ago in England during my car driving days, I stopped at a zebra crossing to allow a young girl, looked about 12 or 13 years old with two young boys about 8 and 11 year old to cross the road. They began to cross on the zebra crossing in front of my car when suddenly a car speeding up the road from somewhere behind me, swung around my car driving at speed over the zebra crossing narrowly missing those kids literally by inches. It was so bad that I had to pull over to the side of the road, stop and have a cigarette. Looked at my face in the rear view mirror and I went as white as a sheet. That image of the car almost hitting those innocent kids has stuck in my mind for the last 30 years. Can`t imagine how I would have been mentally affected if I witnessed those kids getting killed.

Now imagine if an accident would have been my fault that resulted in persons either getting seriously injured or killed, I doubt if I could live with myself after that. So whatever some maniacs do on the roads, I stick by my guns, drive with caution and don`t break the traffic laws, therefore I feel safe and know I`m doing the right thing, not only for myself but also for others.

Some astonishing stupidity on display here. If (as in one example) you drive fast out of a junction into moving traffic without looking, you are quite likely to collide with the side of a passing bus.

............ and if we see this kind of behaviour displayed with regularity throughout Thailand there you have it- an explanation as to why this country is number 1 regarding the number of traffic accidents.

Your leg looks frankly speaking fragged. My leg on the photo was for whatever reason not even shaved when Khun Moo at the Sisaket hospital did his unsuccessful job when he was using me to try out new things. The Farang had to be the Guinea Pig, me thinks.

Considering that the Tibia head was affected, the plate that should hold 5 different bone fragments underneath the T-head together, was done in such an unprofessional way that I had to suffer for years. Even I could read the X-rays, and deep inside me, I knew that this wouldn't work out, but hope is something  that dies last.

The X Ray photo was done with my older mobile phone and the doctors in a German hospital couldn't believe that a Thai colleague could have done such a bad job.

Six operations, including an artificial knee joint were necessary to get me back on my now half artificial feet. Unfortunately, all that glitters is not gold and the German hospital also implanted a serious Staphylococcus Aureus infection, and not just some Titanium that I'd almost lost my leg.

A lady with a similar problem got her leg amputated because of the diseased station we were in. The irony is that the Thai hospital couldn't put the pieces together successfully,  and travelling over 20,000 km to get it done by specialists in a more developed country ( not really!) was more a horror trip.

The "nasty photo" shows a fully developed Staphylococcus Aureus infection, ( a bacteria) that was totally unseen by all the great doctors on their daily inspections, but luckily well spotted by an elderly nurse. Thank god for her. The whole tract of the horror hospital was shut down six weeks after the operations, when I came back to Thailand.

I hope that the nasty looking photos will not offend anybody, it's more a warning for others what can and perhaps will go wrong.

And yes, i believe that such images might help others to rethink their routine when on or in a vehicle. Or even as an pedestrian, nobody is really safe here.

you're fine no apology needed. I am not very good with looking at those gruesome things or blood. I could never be a nurse or doctor.

I've got no problems even when it's really scary and it seems that I always am at the wrong place at the wrong time. I've seen really brutal accidents where students from my school were involved. Two semester of studying medicine didn't help me at all to deal with such a situation and I had to start crying when I realized how helpless I really was.

Both had injuries and you could see the cracked skulls, because both didn't wear a helmet. When an ambulance arrived they had to tell me to let go, I was holding their hands when they died.

One accident happened in 2009, the other one in 2010. I never felt so helpless in my life and the pictures are still in my head.

Worst drivers, bar none. Thais drive like they do pretty much everything. Careless, oblivious, reckless, senseless. Exactly why #1 in annual road deaths. :post-4641-1156693976:

Great vid though! Can't stop watching! :clap2:

Only detected one victim with proper helmet strapped correctly. Got T-boned by a car running a red light, thrown thru the windshield and hopped away. Helmet surely saved his life. Looked like a farang.

this needs only a great sound track  ,may I suggest the theme to ''benny hill'',or ''we are the champions'' by queen..

There is no animosity intended in this statement and it is submitted entirely without prejudice but it

Strikes me that changing the national anthem to the death march might just wake these clowns up!!

Something has got to be done, too many die because of a complete lack of awareness

Forgot to mention...terrible timing and speed/distance gap knowledge. Total lack of judgment.

Could not play the video as it kind of blacked out but after looking at the screenshots, one exceptional shot being where the one male lost his shorts and appears to expose all.  Thought that Rod Steward, 1975, should provide the lyrics to the video:

I am flying,
I am flying
Like a bird
'Cross the sky
I am flying,
Passing high clouds
To be with you,
To be free

Its not the event itself .. It will be the likelihood of the youth wanting to replicate what they have just witnessed on the track out on the roads and highways on their own machines ..

I doubt that, GP racers drive their bikes very well. The are not capable of doing that as you can see for yourself every day on the roads.

It takes skill and commomon sense to drive like a GP racer something that these totally lack.
