moogradod
My wife is soon shipping household items to Thailand as part of our relocation. We have paid for a door-to-door delivery. The partner of the shipping company in Switzerland, BlueFox Relocation Services Thailand, requests to get the original passports to prove that she has been abroad for more than 1 year to claim duty and tax free import. Anybody had to do the same (give originals) ? We actually only want to provide copies (certified if necessary).
Langsuan Man
Common requirement,. showing original passport, not a copy I had to travel to Bangkok to deliver mine to the agent primarily to prove that I was here on a Non immigrant visa and is one rule I have never heard of Royal Thai Customs breaking
Oxx
Same experience: original required. In my case the shipping company sent someone to Ayutthaya to pick it up, saving me a trip to Bangkok.

blackcab
My Thai wife had to send her original Thai ID card to the shipping agent in Bangkok to clear various items through customs.
