Replica Watches - would you buy one?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of buying a watch a friend has, 3000 baht and looks exactly like the original, beautiful watch and he says the running is wonderful for over one year.

Would you buy a fake watch?

It is hit and miss.. whatever they ask offer 50%

My first trip to Thailand was in 1991. I bought a fake Rolex Oyster Perpetual. If memory serves, I paid US$20 for it. I still have it (somewhere), and it still works (as far as I know). I never wore it much, mostly because I just never got in the habit of wearing any watch. It just bothered me to have something on my wrist either feeling tight or flopping around and pulling at the hairs.

It was certainly a good investment for me, as I've never had to spend any money on watches since.

Some people might think that wearing one would put off the street watch sellers and make them leave you alone, but I guess wearing multiple watches is now sort of a "thing" in Thailand, so perhaps not.

I am shocked that you could say such a thing.:cheesy::cheesy:

Maybe you and me thinks he tells lies, but he does not know the difference between truth and lies, give the poor man a break.

I bought a copy Cartier tank watch in Bali years ago, $5-$10, Just to wear until it stopped. It lasted 4-5 years, in the shower, swimming etc. Never took it off and eventually I smashed the face in an accident, rather than it stopping.

1 year guarantee is requirement for me

If the price is 3,000 baht, run away.  Or at least negotiate it down to something closer to 500-1,000 baht.

As this is a discussion of buying fake goods and in violation of the following:

3) You will not post about activities or links to websites containing such material that are illegal in Thailand. This includes but is not limited to: gambling, betting, pornography, illegal drugs, fake goods/clothing, file sharing of pirated material, pyramid schemes, etc. Discussion of the above is permitted only as news items, but never as a "how to" topic.
