Best Sandwich Shoppe In Pattaya?

Got any tips on finding a really good sandwich in Pats?

Not Subway, please!

I like the Continental on Thrappaya near Threppasit, good bread and fresh fixin's but I'm looking for the real deal.

  • fresh French baguette
  • high quality meats and cheeses
  • a selection of tasty condiments like dijon mustard, garlicky aoili
  • crisp pickles and herbed-marinated veggies

Pointers?

deli-france in Big C, north pattaya.

Seconded! Deli France are good butties; how about Friendship butties, next to all the fresh breads?

Isn't there a Deli France next to Burger King at Garden Plaza?

Don't like Deli-France much, nor (in Royal Garden) the other places near it. There are thre, all with high prices and low selection of fillings.

I prefer the Horwegian bar opposite Palmers in Soi Pattayaland 2.

Better to be with Norsemen than frogs any day.

There are few things I would rather see open in Pattaya and Jomtien than a really good sub shop. Oh, do I miss them. Subway sucks in the US and it sucks here even more. They do have good bread and good toppings though. As for Deli-France, the times I have ate there I needed a knife to cut the bread. Way to hard for a good sandwich or sub. The bread tasted good, just way to hard. And the portion size of the meat was just way too small.

If I wasn’t so lazy I would open one. But, what would that do to my golf schedule.

So, this is my solution.

After lots of trail and error I have found three deli meats you can get at almost all of the supermarkets that are pretty good. They are chicken breast, beef pastrami, and ham. Next the bread, if you buy French bread you better make sure it is fresh and make your sandwich that day, if not it will be too hard. Care 4 has another bread, I forget its name that stays softer longer, but does not taste as good.

Next the condiments, I buy olives, pickles (there is a new guy making pickles that are pretty good, but you can not get them at the big stores, I buy them at Food Mark. Foodland might have them,) onions, green peppers, iceberg lettuce (from Care 4,) tomato’s (need to leave them out a few days to ripen, not in the refrigerator,) Hellmans mayonnaise, yellow mustard, Kraft Swiss cheese and Heinz’s Gourmet Salad Vinegar.

I like the double meat killer subs like back home. So, I toast the bread and start with one layer of the meats and cheese, next the condiments and another layer of meats. That’s all you have to do and you get a great killer. Of course, after doing all that work you to worn out to eat it. It would be just so much better if we could order one and get it delivered to your condo.

If somebody would open a sub shop and a pizza shop that made real high quality American products, I am sure they would make a killing. I would be your best customer. I am just too lazy to do it.

Just to eat a Pizza with a made with a real slow cooked tomato sauce and cheese that did not taste like cardboard would be a real treat.

Looking for volunteers, PLEASE!

I agree that the above mentioned places suck.

What I do is buy deli meats from Foodland ( I think they have a very good selection ) , cheese , hit their salad bar for toppings , their bakery for nice fresh baked bread and a recent find of some really good German made honey mustard that comes in what looks like a toothpaste tube.

Now that makes one hel_l of a sandwich :o

Hello Thai Visa Forum,

I attended your get together the other night at the Pattaya Beer Garden and had a great time and met some of you. I thought I would take this opportunity to let you know more about what I do in Pattaya, partially because of what I see, or don't see in your form about sandwich shops, and partially from the interest shown at the get together.

My name is Peter and I operate the Subs-N-Suds Sandwich Shop on Soi Yamato. We serve American style subs and sandwiches of about 70 varieties or so. We have been in business about 5 years, selling food about 3.5 years now. We are open 24 hours and have free delivery in the pattaya area and we are also listed in the WOW and Door-2-Door delivery services menus.

Here is our current menu for your review:

Thanks from myself and the entire staff of Subs-N-Suds.

I tried a Steak & Cheese at SubsNSuds and to be polite as the owner is a nice guy, you couldn't serve that in Philly. The prices are a bit shocking also, yes?

Subway offer high quality sandwiches on a choice of different freshly baked breads for a reasonable price.

I find their outlet at Carrefour is the best. Avoid the outlet at Tipp Plaza for obvious reasons!

Just had two sandwiches for lunch.

Sub-like, with assorted cold meats and salad, including hot peppers, and some sort of mayo/sauce.

About 8" long, 4" diameter (large) - 30,000 dong for the two - that's about 60 baht. Absolutely fresh, crusty rolls.

Bought from a shop, not a roadside stall - but here in Saigon that does not affect the price.

Excellent value - more than a one foot Subway and more fillin in each than any sandwich I have had in Pattaya.

Delifrance:

Tuna & salad roll, OJ & coffee = 140 Baht

Greg's Kitchen:

Best home made style sandwich I've eaten anywhere in Thailand. Proper large, door stopper size slices of fresh white, or brown, bread, real sliced ham, real cheese and sliced tomato = 250 baht (approx)

Greg's Kitchen, Pattaya 2nd Road (near Bangkok Bank at top of soi 6) = great expat/farang food.

I worked at a 5 star hotel as a school kid purely making sandwiches of the highest quality, and there isnt one place ive been to in LOS that even comes close to them.

Anyone who likes Subway when not drunk needs their taste buds testing, Deli France is an absolute rip off something like 100bht extra if you want a slice of cheese in your ham sandwich though the bread is the best in Patts.

The one id go to which isnt the best but passes the test is Au bon pain at the Avenue.

About 5GBP for a Cheese and Ham Sandwich in a run of the mill restaurant is a ripoff.

I tend to agree with you. I'm amazed at the poor taste of some...

One problem is the bread - really hard to impossible to get quality(i don't mean the cheap chemical breads like wonderbread) bread like we have in the west. The other problem is the rest of the ingredients :)

In Bangkok The Landmark Hotel comes closest(run by an Indian I hear)

Au Bon Pan is maybe the easiest choice in Pattaya but I remember Greg's kitchen as good too.

o

I don't know why it has to be this way. Those who have been to Laos or even Phucket usually say

the western food is better there....

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Petite Planete next to Tukcom. Real good and affordable Belgian style sandwiches (~100 baht each).

The bread is ok there but the rest of the ingredients are terrible, it consists of that congealed milk aka processed cheese and slithery pieces of tasteless ham .... if anyones looking to open a business and can find the right ingredients a sandwich shop is as good a bet as any.

Both their crab and chicken salads are very good.

And a sandwich consists of what exactly on your planet?

You have got to be joking! You would be hard pressed to find a sandwich that expensive in the West End of London.

Alot of Subway haters here, but they are the only place that I have found consistently good, fresh and quality. Never tried one after a few beers, always drawn to the doner kebab carts like a moth to a flame, which is a form of sandwich so also deserves an honourable mention.

Subway have done to the sandwich what Mcdonalds have done to the burger, made it completely tasteless .... they are edible but it isnt really something that after youve eaten youd think how lovely it tasted, more well at least im full now ...... The tuna mayo they sell has a few flakes of tuna and a hugely disproportionate amount of mayo, then they try to put extra mayo on at the end .... and their cheese is that processed crap IMEO that stuff doesnt deserve to be called cheese.

Never had the pleasure to try on of these delights in LOS, they look like they could come with a guarantee of food poisoning.
