The deputy prime minister has sought another extension of the deadline to submit written explanation of his pricey watches to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) when it dues today.

NACC deputy secretary-general Worawit Sukboon said Gen Prawit has sought to postpone giving a written explanation despite the deadline expires today.

But he said he couldn’t say whether the NACC would give him more time to clarify on the issue. He said the NACC is gathering evidence and giving him a chance to clear himself off all allegations

Hes not entirely stupid.

Obviously very reluctant to make a statement which can be checked and may later be used against him.

In delaying his response, he is refraining from acknowledging any potential wrongdoing and effectively ignoring or denying any charges or culpability.

Isn't this now way beyond, beyond, beyond, beyond and beyond a joke? How can the Thai 'officials' and 'reporters' speak of all this stuff with a straight face? And therein lies the whole problem: grovelling to Authority, and gutlessness to stand up and fight for Principle and against evil.

If certain countries in the West had just appeased, appeased and appeased Fascism and not risked EVERYTHING to fight against it, they would not have the freedom of expression and freedom of conscience which they enjoy today.

Imagine having 'Speakers' Corner' in Thailand? You would be clapped in irons after 2 minutes! But if MILLIONS of Thais insisted on having their say and defying the 'authorities' (who have zero MORAL authority)  - that would be a VERY different story indeed  ...

Watch out for his watches! Thai-time on his watches?

I think virtually all Thais are aware of the Prawit farce - they know what he has been up to with his watches - BUT at the end of the day, they basically accept it all (with more or less grumbling).

THAT is the whole problem of the Thais. But as another poster pointed out elsewhere, the younger generation may be getting smarter and more outspoken (via social media, no less!). But will there be enough of them??

The man needs time. He still cant get his small brain around why he was even questioned in the first place.....a man in his position and all!

When the next deadline is due he will spiel the same BS and ask for more time !! Groundhog day Thai style[emoji14]

How about, doing everything possible within their authority to avoid having to do anything about the guy and his watches...

Just curious, along the way, has anyone from the NACC ever asked him WHY exactly he needs the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and now 5th extension of time????  Just what exactly would the reason be???

BkkP is reporting that "the law allows the NACC to give only 2 extensions".  So what assumptions can be drawn from lack of due process.

With NACC procrastinating to help out Prawit and the CDC dirty tricks to delay the election; just the right tonic for more people on the streets. Hope to see this movement gather size and kick out the corrupt junta.

No, I ask you Mr. Prawit to stop. Stop deceiving your people. Stop stealing massive sums of money. Stop being so incompetent. Stop lying, cheating, stealing and deflecting. Stop! Stop! Get out! Get out! Leave now. Keep just one promise. Is that even possible for you?

The people are getting restless, and you are getting nervous. For good reason. You should be nervous. You are not wanted. You are no good. You are a foul deceiver. You are a fool.

His and Little P's personal motto may as well be - I promise to move Thailand backwards at a breath taking and alarming pace, and never, ever do anything to benefit the Thai people. I will continue to do everything I can to protect the elite, the super wealthy, the connected, and those in office, either in the police, my administration, or the army.

These little men simply do not exist, in my consciousness.

Come on folks you are all missing the point, ole fatty is just dragging this out, until he is the same as his imaginary friend.... Dead.

I can envision the Thai news reports in 2028...

"It's now year 10 in the ongoing Prawit watch scandal watch, and the deputy PM today requested his 1,637 extension from the NACC to explain how he came into possession of XXX pricey watches."

That they are either in on it or at best, utterly useless. Take your pick. Either way they need slinging out on their backsides along with those they are protecting.

Looks like a Seiko or Citizen in that pic...

Next we will hear how the govt has "run out of options" in getting Prawit to explain so the investigation will have to be dropped hahahaha!

For as long as the voters themselves see personal responsibility as something that is an onus of others, the karaption will continue.

This is just a sterling example of the double standards in law enforcement,

and not the only case.

Another public display of, yes, yes we have laws and nobody is unnacountable....along with the poaching debacle by another high profile Thai. Unfortunately it is only a display and of little or no consequence, it is then played to death until the little people either forget or lose interest.
Normal operations resume.
To be fair it seems if they removed all of the corrupt personnel in this countries administrations and governing systems then there would be very few left at all....
There does seem to be a ray of hope with social media though, and the way that the younger Thais have grasped how powerful it can be to at least keep exposing what they see..

In the NACCs defence, they probably didn't consider that a man owning 25 watches would be so bad at meeting deadlines.

Does he really believe it will just go away?
