Authorities Crack Down on Underage Sex Trafficking in Chiang Rai Karaoke Bars
In a shocking revelation, local authorities in Wiang Pa Pao district have launched a major operation against illegal sexual services provided from karaoke bars operating until dawn, highlighting the disturbing involvement of minors aged 13 to 17 At approximately 00:50 on November 13, a coordinated effort was led by Deputy Interior Minister Chotinarin Koetsaman, alongside Chiang Rai Governor Prasert Jitpleecheep, Provincial Secretary Ballang Waitsir, and Wiang Pa Pao District Chief Pongsak Petchkhongkaew. The operation was further supported by Provincial Police Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Manop Senakool and Police Colonel Narut Srisawat. The extensive raid targeted several karaoke venues suspected of being fronts for sex trafficking. Authorities were taken aback to discover that young girls, some as young as 13, were allegedly working in these establishments, providing illicit services to patrons. This incident has raised significant concerns regarding child exploitation and trafficking in the region. The authorities are now conducting thorough investigations to identify and rescue minors exploited in these situations while seeking to bring those responsible to justice. "The safety and well-being of our children is paramount," stated Deputy Minister Koetsaman during a press briefing. "We will not tolerate such heinous activities that undermine our community's values and threaten our youth." As the crackdown continues, local officials are calling for increased public awareness and cooperation in identifying and reporting suspected cases of child trafficking and exploitation. DSI Nabs Nigerian Crime Ring Leader in 50M Baht Horse Account Scam
Picture courtesy: Daily News In a significant crackdown, Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI) arrested a Nigerian national believed to be a central figure in a major fraud network involving horse accounts across the country, causing damages estimated at over 50 million baht. The operation, dubbed "Operation Black Horse Down," targeted a gang combining Thai and Nigerian nationals who orchestrated romance scams and opened horse accounts nationwide for various criminal activities. This network has been linked to call centre scams, romance fraud, and drug-related offences, with an estimated 1,200 million baht in transactions and over 1,000 horse accounts involved. Following a criminal court warrant for eight suspects, on 8 October 2024, the DSI joined forces with Thailand’s Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) and forensic agencies to raid five locations. Six suspects, including Nigerian and Thai nationals, were detained in connection with these fraudulent activities. On 13 November 2024, DSI investigators expanded their inquiry and discovered that Mr. Christian (surname withheld), a Nigerian national and the alleged leader of the network, was detained by the Bureau of Immigration Police. Preliminary findings suggest additional accomplices, both Thai and foreign nationals, are still at large. The DSI also issued a public warning about the severe legal consequences of opening horse accounts, which can lead to criminal charges. Under Thailand’s new Cybercrime Act of 2023, individuals aiding fraud operations may face up to three years in prison, a fine of up to 300,000 baht, or both. Thief With Good Manners Steals Gold Necklaces After Removing Shoes
UPDATE Caught, “Polite” Robber Who Removed Shoes Before Stealing Gold to Fund Engagement In a unique twist on crime etiquette, police have apprehended a man who courteously removed his shoes before entering a gold shop to commit theft. The suspect, identified as Somlak Janthongtae, 32, allegedly stole two gold necklaces totalling four baht in weight to raise money for his upcoming engagement. The incident took place on November 12 at Yaowarat Ketum Gold Shop, located near Wat Ketumdee Sriwararam in Bang Thorat, Samut Sakhon Province. Surveillance footage showed Somlak, wearing a black hoodie and face mask, entering the shop barefoot and then fleeing with the necklaces, worth approximately 180,000 baht, leaving his shoes behind as evidence. Following the robbery, Somlak reportedly escaped on a motorbike, navigating narrow alleyways before abandoning the bike and taking a taxi to Maha Chai city center, where he sold the necklaces at a local gold store for around 162,000 baht. By the afternoon of November 13, police had tracked Somlak’s movements as he boarded a bus to northern Thailand. Officers intercepted him at Pluak Sung intersection in Phichit Province, finding 160,000 baht in cash from the stolen gold’s sale, as well as the black hoodie he wore during the robbery. According to Police Colonel Teeradej Athipakkul, Somlak explained that he was simply following a shop sign requesting customers to remove their shoes before entry. Somlak also reportedly expressed remorse to shop staff during a crime scene reenactment, apologising with a respectful wai gesture. Information and truth is so easy to find these days with the internet. So when your whole business is based on not news but smearing, dividing and twisting the truth it really stands out. Unlike perhaps even 10-15 years ago people are much more aware of this. Go look at nearly any mainstream news video on youtube that allows comments and it is very clear in the comments that the majority of people have had enough of the lies. Doing family research and reading newspapers from the 50s, 60s, 70s I did notice a stark difference in that it is actual news reports wuthout and right left bs. All these cnns, bbcs, abcs etc will be about as popular as a cassette tape in a decade or two.
