Bringing rice into Thailand for personal use

Featured Replies

I have a few kilograms of nice rice that I am thinking of taking with me from my home country to Thailand by plane, putting it in my checked baggage. Does anyone think that that might be prohibited by Thailand?

It must be very special rice to want to lug it all that way.

Kind of like bringing ice to Antarctica, but I have never heard of not being allowed.

For paella there is no alternative to Bomba rice. With luggage allowances these days bringing in a couple of kilos is no problem. Never been stopped at swampy but I don't see a problem.
