That would have been the easiest way out. But as the deputy PM of a country,  it would have landed him and his buddies in a huge problem with much more legal ramifications from international companies making these watches.

BUT none of that matters one iota - IF THE THAI PEOPLE DO NOT TAKE ACTION. If they carry on allowing sand to be shovelled into their eyes - then they deserve all they are getting and will get.

 

I don't as yet see MILLIONS of Thais massing in the streets to say: 'enough is ENOUGH'!

From what I have gleaned, the Thai people generally accept if you get into a position of power, ie police, politician, government official of any kind, then it's open slather on lining your pockets as much as you can, however you can. Greed is good, and money is god.

This is a statement from Prawit, not the NACC, though I'm sure they will come to the same, almost inevitable, conclusion, which would lead me to believe that those particular bastions of virtue are just as corrupt as everyone else.

 

Whether Prawit considers the case over or not, I'm pretty sure he hasn't heard the last of it. Despite giddyup's generally correct comment about Thais condoning corruption, this case does appear to have been treated rather differently by the public, possibly due to the Prawit's arrogance, perhaps even the fact that he has never been chosen as a politician by the public, maybe even his appearance.

Bearing in mind the justification for the coup was fighting corruption, even the slowest of Junta supporters must have worked out what these guys represent by now. They've even got their equivalent of the rice scheme (Thai Niyom) to try and buy the electorate (if they ever have the election they keep promising and subsequently postponing).

 

At least you could vote out the Reds. This lot have removed Democracy while keeping,and in some cases increasing all the problems with the previous administration. Thailand has jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire.

With all the forest fires here, they would have a problem to find proper wood to build enough gallows.

In the meantime the investigation into how Little Toad got into the Thai Military anyway; as his 1.5 metre height is considerably below the 1.6 metre height requirement, has stalled somewhat. Is this watch stuff a smokescreen I ask?

I am sorry to say that many Thais are so familiar with coming out with fatuous and totally incredible 'excuses' and lies for this, that and the other - that they are probably not all that outraged by Prawit's nonsense and in-your-face lies. It's a daily occurrence in Thailand.

Approaching watch manufacturers or outlets is a red herring as they would not break client confidentiality, unless of course they were given a Court Order to do so.

Shouldn't be. But it appears the story is all loaned by one late and formerly very wealthy friend. So, the story will be not his property so he didn't have to declare them and it wasn't his money that paid for them. The heirs of the late chum are quite happy for him to keep wearing them as that's what is friend wanted. And if anyone disputes it, good look fighting the defamation charges.
