I apply for change of visa (TR to Non-O for 90 days, followed by retirement-status). The process is on the way. Will get the Non-O until 18may (expiry date of my TR-visa-extansion).

Immigration told me,, that after another 45 days (within the 90-days-Non-O), I can start the process to get retirement status. Will be between begin of July and mid August.

Do someone  here knows, if I can  get a re-entry stamp for travelling 3-4 weeks outside of Thailand within this Non-O-Period. Will be back begin of July. Thank you.

Yes, you can leave the country during the 90 days using a re-entry permit. You must return before the end of the 90 days, and can apply for the ‘retirement extension’ anytime within the last 45 days.

The 90 days will start from the date you apply for the non immigrant visa at immigration. Not at end of your 60 day entry or the 30 day extension of it.

You can get a re-entry permit that will keep the remainder of the 90 days valid when you enter the country.

Thank you Elivajero and Ubonjohn.

Add. question to Ubonjohn: I just ask here about re-entry, because I forgot to ask at the Immigration.

The Immigration told me, that I will get first a 90-day-non-O, which will be ready 1-2 days before the extansion of my TR ends (18may) and then I have to wait another 45 days. "We do not make before, because your TR ist valid until 18may" was the information.

I apply for change in Non-O on 05april, so up to you, my Non-O will be valid until 05july, and I have to contact Immigration 45 days before, means just some days after I get the Non-O? Thanks

That is not correct. You must have at least 15 days remaining on your 60 day entry or the 30 day extension to apply for the non immigrant visa. The 90 days will start from the date you apply for the visa. When you go back in about 15 days they will do the visa and 90 day entry stamp effective the date you applied.

Just to clarify what is going on (that I think you are only partially understanding). You are applying for a Non O visa on the basis of retirement. As explained, this gives an initial permission to stay of 90 days starting from the date of the application. Once your application is accepted, your prior tourist visa entry and extension are irrelevant, and you should ignore them. As immigration told you, you can usually only apply for an extension of your initial 90-day permission to stay during the last 45 days of your permission to stay. (Immigration actually has the discretion to waive the 45-day rule if you can persuade them that it is a problem in your case. Unless you are using an agent, they tend not to do so these days.) All this aside, you can apply for a re-entry permit at any time which will keep your current permission to stay (extended or not) intact when leaving and re-entering Thailand.
