Do you believe in God

Featured Replies

I am old now living here in Thailand for a longtime! We all should care and love each other but we do not! What do you believe about God and your end in this place? Time to think about it now regardless your age. I recently lost my daughter and it hurts!

I want to know are you living for just fun, drinking, bar hopping? Your end is closer than you think! Get close to your God, I choose Jesus as my saviour!

Praise the lord     sweet Jesus

Yup, certainly do.

However, I'm not going to defend my belief to the naysayers that will follow.

I am atheist, and don't really understand how people can believe in any god without proof.

But the great scam of religions put a safety-stop in there by adding faith and making them believe the fact that there is no proof (ever) is only to test the strength of their belief.

I think almost nobody would believe in a good unless they were brought up from a very young age to belief in him and not question it too much.

Anyway the fact that I don't believe does not mean I won't let others believe as long as they keep their beliefs to themselves and not force them on me.

I think the rascal who started this wind up thread is going to have a lot of laughs too.

To the O.P. -- I'm really sorry to hear about your daughter.

But I think you've used that sad story here to guilt trip people here to buy your brand of faith.

Yes, it's a popular brand.

But popularity does not necessarily mean it's the best brand, or true at all.

Look at movie box office ratings.

Often it's the trashiest, mass market "blockbusters" aimed at low education 19 year olds that lead the market. The best QUALITY movies that best reflect deep human truths are almost always DUDS at the box office.

On your topic here, I suggest you start a POLL.

To add, I truly believe in freedom of religion but also freedom of NO religion.

In the U.S. my home country if you go to court you will have a better chance of winning your case if you can convince the judge and jury that you're a "good Christian." That is simply WRONG.

Good luck for you you CHOSE Jesus to be your saviour. It cannot possibly be that entire nations of people are automatically damned to hell. Most religious people follow the religion of their parents. Thus Egypt is a majority Muslim country these days. Thank “God” you are not living under that kind authority of such throwbacks to Medievalism.

Yes, thanks for asking.     I'm old too and have been here a long time.       Sorry to hear about your daughter, keep the faith and move on.

I've come to believe  - maybe madly - that there is a galactic/universal being - call it god or whatever if that helps. Only we are the creation of that being in order to feel, since it had no body, we are in 'essence' the skin cells sending our feelings for the 'creator' to feel in some unknown nerve-ending way. We are no better than fish, or ants or any other life-form that feels - we all send the message of feeling back to 'whatever'. Skin cells are replaced - like us, reproduction is merely the godlike beings way of rejuvenating its feeling ability.

There is no heaven and no hell, and when we die maybe a part of our conciousness returns to the 'being'. We have no ability to comprehend the 'maker' - in the same way a skin cells cannot understand the brain.

It matter not if you are good or bad in life to the maker, it absorbs the feelings of love or wanting to kill, or the boozy alcoholic. It enjoys the touch of a feather as much as the cut of a knife. Without feeling the being having no body would go mad !

Of course I could have been living here too long.

You are correct I have not met him either

Another point.

You often hear there are no atheists in foxholes.

It is definitely true that non-believers often become believers very fast when under mortal stress.

But that proves what? That it's human nature to fear death and try to make a deal to avoid it?

It does.

But it doesn't prove the existence of a deity.

Born as a Roman Catholic, I ended up to believe in some Buddhist sayings, but considering that Buddha wasn't a god.

When I had visitors from the Jehovahs' Witness, I couldn't hear their weird bla bla anymore and had to point to the door. When Mormons came to my house after I had a motorcycle accident, with a visible cast around my leg, they were asking if they could help me. My answer was yes, to please leave me alone.

They had signs on their bicycles that they'd teach Thais English for free, but only if they join their club and had to sing songs on Sundays.

The problem with YOUR god is that there are so many variations of it. And one club doesn't believe what the other club is saying. That's not a religion, that's insanity.

Sorry, not wanting to be impolite, I respect your decision to pray to your god.

Absolutely not

Like genitalia, have it, share it with like minded people, but don't wave it around in my face and definitely keep it away from children

One ridiculous plea is that atheists should respect religion. How is it possible to respect something that demands its followers believe without evidence?

The best I can do is respect your right to have a religion

Yes we should be happy that we live in countries where we have religious freedom.

Not really related to Thailand is it?
