Pattaya Songkran set to last all week until April 19th

77Jowo reported that Pattaya's Songkran celebration began on Beach Road on Thursday evening ahead of the official Friday start.

It was good-natured fun, they said, as Thais and foreigners frequenting the area beer bars doused people walking past and those on baht buses got a serious soaking.

Beer bar operators were supplying the water and making money from the sale of water guns, said the media.

The official time of the celebration is set from the 13th to the 19th of April.

That was not in Pattaya but again Pattaya is Pattaya never know what you get

But the say all week to 19 but that is not all week in my calendar

Experienced it once back in 2006.  That was enough.  Just too inconvenient to walk around and do things during the day.  This year I am in the States and will be going to the Melbourne, Florida Wat Thai for their celebration.

What idiots decide that Pattaya have to suffer that many days with this idiocy ?

it always does so what is new??

Started a day early on Wednesday.  unfortunate people who were stocking up last minute supplies got soaked with all their groceries.  Some older ladies were on the bhat bus with me had shopping bags from Central  with what looked like clothes and "other" things that should not be wet.  they weren't happy to say the least.  One lady from Khon Kaen said she never saw it start early.  Neither have I?

Not made up it's a fact.

Since it's a fact that it was Pattaya then it's a fact that "That was not Pattaya" is made up as I said.

It's been starting on the 11th for years, even last year when things were supposed to be muted, so there's no reason to expect any change that I know of. Hence the FAQ predicts the 11th. No reason whatsoever to doubt your statement. In fact I heard the same from a Thai friend who went shopping at Central on Wed. evening.

Tell us more about your calendar. Is your issue that a week can't mean "number of days" but only whether it starts on Sun and finishes on Sat?

Don't need to tell you anything enjoy your beerbar festival

It's over here in Bangkok today , it's been peaceful., I'm happy I escaped in time and still dry . Won't be back until the 20th .   Tomorrow we're off to IKEA to do some shopping. Life is good.

Always been that way. Origins lost in the mists of time by now.

I used to enjoy it, but now I hide in my room.

Only good thing about Chiang Mai is that it's only 4 days.

Lam Mae Phim 90 minutes south of Pattaya was only one day.  Great fun and noone trying to hurt each other.

Much better than getting soaked by a farang idiot in Pattaya.

Unfortunately I see Songkran as an excuse for those who get their kickst by annoying other people.

There are some nice IKEA products for the price.  Some people don't have your fine taste and charmed life still.

It started on the tenth though...
