A British man had died after falling from the 18th floor of a condominium in Pattaya.

The body of the man [name withheld], 68, was found on the 5th floor mezzanine at the Lumpini Villa in Naklua at 1am on Wednesday.

The man’s body was found by his new girlfriend.

She told police how she had returned to their condominium to find her boyfriend missing.

Concerned, she looked outside and saw his body on the ground below.

She added that in recent days he had spent a lot of time on the balcony looking down towards the ground.

Local media reported the man had been suffering from stress due to the impending divorce from his Thai wife.

He was due to travel to Khon Kaen tomorrow to finalise the divorce, the report said.

Police said it was likely the man committed suicide.

His body has been sent for post mortem to establish an official cause of death.

Very sad. Let me just pre-empt the don't understand why brigade: people do this when the balance of their mind is disturbed, thus rendering them unable to think or rationalise well.

And starting over this age is almost impossible.

Doesn’t make sense stressed about the divorce from his Thai wife but that didn’t stop him from having a new Thai girlfriend , it’s always funny how it’s jumps or falls never suggest that all these deaths from balconies could of resulted from being pushed RIP to the fella ??

A young (probably) trophy (probably) wife for a 68 y. o. man, both of whom don't share the same culture or language (and a whole lot more). This is a recipe for disaster. How many more of these do we need to get it?

Very enlightening.

Does anyone anywhere keep a record of the number of suicides of falangs taking the plunge from hi-rise buildings in Thailand? There seem to be an awful lot of them in the did-he(it's almost exclusively he)-fall-or-was-he-pushed category.
