Hi all,

I like to buy a mini excavator, now I'm looking for China  it's a 0.8
with "full" options  (roof, buckets 20, 38 and 60cm, wood grabber, rake, quick hitch, ripper, thumb, auger 20cm)

the price is about 5000 us$ including transport to Bangkok seaport.

It's new, but China new... 555
I like to buy more local, as I can see and try the excavator prior to buying.
and cheaper would be good too.

can you inform me where to start looking for a decent mini excavator, with (most of) the above options?

 thanks!!

maindealer on the ring road udon thani, or the one on the outskirts of nong khai both owned by same family, selling kubuta machines-tractors ect.... or just before udon thani coming from phen you have the larger machines for sale hyundai ect maybe they  have the smaller ones too, if you drive around heading towards udon you will see 4-5th (old stuff) hand for sale along boths sides of the road....

Why don't you try North East Tractor Parts - a good friend of mine who has many machines available.

Do you have a link to the site?

Thank you for your replies!

I ask my wife to go look.
First, know the Thai prices.. not farang prices :-)

I did some negotiating with the dealer, inland transport seems to be only at high costs..
Checking the cargo and customs clearance is both 50 us$, and another 85 for "service costs".
A truck from Bangkok to Udon Thani, Phen area, US$ 750,-
This sounds like crazy high farang price to me.

If you know a cheaper option.   Please do let me know!!

From China, I've bought regularly electronics, their Thai import Tax rate is 15% + little fee.

The dealer can lower the price a little for customs, making it US$ 4.000,-
Total tax would be US$ 600,- (I hope, checking the current tax rates on excavator now)

If I would agree with the transport and clearance costs.. total price is +/- $ 6500,-
the small bucket has changed to a 30cm unit, not 20. and it does include a few spare filters.

I'm familiar this XN08, it's been sold in Holand as well. and I've tested one here.

They are sold for € 5.500,- with one (38cm) bucket. (5500 euro is about US$ 6550)
Price including all the extra would be here € 7.000,-, about US$ 8.350,-
So far, not a bad deal.

US$ 750 for a truck transport?
Too bad it's too heavy for my pickup!

I've never had anything this big transported in Thailand, but US$ 750/Baht 2,200 to have the excavator trucked up from BKK to Udon strikes me as being very reasonable. I've paid similar money to have my furniture brought up on a pickup from Hua Hin to Bangkok. I might be wrong of course.

us$ 750 is truck only, about 24.000 (24 thousand) baht.

It's not big, it's mini excavator,  a 2 person sofa has a bigger footprint.
sure, it's higher and heavier. total weight about 1100 kg.

I have to correct the price, it's total 1550 us$
$ 750 truck, customs clearance and check are both $ 50, service $ 85 and a bunch in Chinese I cannot understand. Total $ 1550...

I'm new to this Thailand thing, in Europe, most trucks are fully loaded, carrying different goods to different addresses.
"never" private truck. Unless you are moving your personal belongings.

This small excavator, you can fit it in the back of a pickup.
I would not advise loading 1100 kg on a normal pickup, for size, it fits.

2.200 baht, sounds like the normal price for furniture on pickup.
I once took a Taxi from Cha-am  2.500 baht.

this is one zero extra   555

24,000 bahts for the transport aint cheap but it dont sound to expensive either. try cost the transport if it was your truck workers fuel  business ect... people aint gonna work for peanuts..... we have  10/12 wheeler lorries most weeks to the farm from bkk area, one pickup point upto 4 drop off points, cost is approx 20,000 baht per load, they do not load but they unload...30kg feed bags. they run back to bkk area empty..... from what i can understand from the drivers they never have a load to run back down...sounds crazy but...

maybe you could buy a trailer for your pickup or try one of the courier services like kerry express?

Nearly all pick up are plated for 1 ton, this is only 100 kg over should not be a problem, you could use a pickup and a trailer, but I think trailers are not allowed into the Bangkok city you have to use the ring road ect .

Or, find a local guy with a 6 wheel truck, I am certain he would do the round trip for a lot less ask around some one will know.

Thanks, I did not know about their weight possibilities. I do see Thai overloading as much as possible.. 555
with a ramp, you can drive it into the truck.

Bangkok seaport is Bangkok, not city :-)
I think local might be the best option.

I still need to find a good contractor for customs :-)

@thoongfoned : I'll look into Kerry!

Looking at siam kubota, they do a U15-3 mini excavator which you could pick locally or delivered to your doorstep.

1 year,2000 hour warranty.

Looks similar to what your after without the head aches of importing, spare parts etc.

Prices?? Please!

Right now, excluding import tax ( I do not know exact rates, I think 15%) I'm looking at $5000 + $000 (?) transport to home + $600(?) tax makes a total of USD 6600, roughly 210.000. That's included the auger, buckets, rake, ripper.

I like to buy local, trust me..

Prices I've seen so far make it worth all the headaches!
I'll ask siam kubota for a quote. It never hurts..

Or we buy together 2 units, get better price :-)

Just looked up JSSR auctions

Kubota U-30-3,

2003 model,7,400 hours

54,000 baht.

There is bucket loads like this available just out of Bangkok heading north.

You would want to be mechanically minded to purchase one.

Sorry, not in the market as i have a deep ripper already.

Not to say others might not be interested.

Farmerjo will be talking about Rangsit, on either side of the main road going into town are the yards selling backhoes, starting near  the Bangkok ring road.allmost up to Future Park .

But most are second imports from Japan, some have not been used for a long time, as FJ said  you need to give them a good going over before buying one .

i just saw a nice little 4 wheel trailer behind a pickup

carrying one of those small excavators in pattaya,

i would ask around where to buy one

or have one built if i couldn't find one for sale,

i imagine you can sell your service with an excavator

that you can lug along at little cost
