Bangkok hotel room massive price variation

Featured Replies

On a recent 4 days in Bangkok where I was paying just over 1000 baht a night in  a hotel promoted by xxxxx ( not sure if I can print info on hotel / tour company names ) . On my arrival to the hotel lobby I could not help but notice the large amount of people from another part of  Asia . Well imagine my surprise when in my room and within the wardrobe I found a room receipt for a previous occupant who was charged a total of 1400 baht for the 4 nights inclusive for 2 guests ( I paid 4200 baht for the same period ) . I decided to speak to the manager on my last day when checking out . He was a very polite Thai guy who spoke good English , so there was no chance of any misunderstandings . He asked to see the receipt but I declined saying it was within my over packed suitcase as I think he would have kept it . He denied that any of the rooms were sold for less than 1000 baht a night . He gave me his personal email address and asked me to send a copy of the receipt which I did but that was 2 weeks ago and no reply .  There were other issues which I told him about . One was there were the same previously  mentioned customers swimming in the pool without swimwear , wearing their underwear only, despite a notice telling guests must wear correct swimwear or face a fine of 500 baht . They were told by a female member of staff but took no notice . They also took videos of European ladies in their swimwear and laughed when doing so . One of the ladies was alone and asked if she could join my party as she was scared . Incident reported but nothing done . There were other incidents of bad manners / behavior and poor restaurant hygiene etc but too much to go on about .  My son wrote a review on the hotel which was posted  on a well known site and the hotel manager gave a reply saying that he would give all of the many issues his personal attention . A stock answer trying to appease readers or potential guests . So what does he do all day ?  Finally I read reviews on the hotel and could not believe that some people gave 9 out of 10 and one gave 10/10 . I do not believe some of these reviews as they sound as if they were posted by the hotel themselves .

From now on I am staying away from budget hotels as the thought of who was sleeping in my bed before me is a concern .

thought of who was sleeping in my bed before me is a concern .   sorry its called a hotel  and the bed is the property of said hotel  try taking it with you

How does one find a receipt in their wardrobe for the same 4-day period?

Thinking about it, how does one’s receipt get from the check-out counter back upstairs and into the wardrobe?

As far as the 9 & 10 ratings, perhaps the people swimming in their underwater, having fun and paying only THB350 a night found your receipt for THB1,050 a night and thought they got over.

If you squeak loud enough and long enough maybe they’ll give you something free.
