This topic is regarding average speeds being received currently by members using 3BB internet provider.   It is not a thread regarding those who may have gripes against them.  It is not a thread requesting alternative providers, so please if you are not a member receiving the service defined below then don't waste time and space by responding.

So please respect the fact that I am only asking for feedback by any member(s) who is currently subscribe to the 3BB   200/50 service .   In both of my properties currently I subscribe to 50/10 mb service in one  ( an old contract )  and  to 100/30 mb service in the other.  Generally over time I have been quite satisfied with the services provided although of course,  as is normal,  the actual service quality and speeds is very dependant upon the traffic.   As an average though I generally seem to be averaging around 29/ 5   ( for the 50/10)  and 78/25 for the 100/30 mb services.

As I am considering upgrading to the 200/50 mb service my question is what are the average speeds being obtained by members who are currently subscribing to this service ?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

3BB speed is capped at 3 Mbit/s for most locations without HTTPS

Asian locations without HTTPS still fast (Singapore, Japan, Korea etc)

It's a good thing most major websites are HTTPS and enjoys 35-40 Mbit speed with 3BB.

Assuming you use a good vpn from singapore, you can achieve 70-80 Mbit easily

I have 200/100 3bb btw.

We have 3BB VDSL 50/10 in one house and 3BB VDSL 30/10 in our second house next door (no 3BB Fiber available in our little village).

Speed of the 50/10 is way above the advertised speed, normally 70+/20+. Also the speed of the 30/10 appears to be good or even very good. At least my boys, who are using that line and are heavy gamers both, never complained.

,I have been with 3BB for almost 2 years. Started with 20/4 VDSL and upgraded to 30/10, 4 months later. The 30/10 speeds were actually 33+/12+. Last month I had 100/30 Fiber installed. The speeds are 125+/40+ with 9 ms ping to Bangkok. I live in a rural area about 12 km NNE of Surin and my dedicated line originates from the village about 1 km away.  If you're currently not receiving at least 100/30 speeds on your current package, I very much doubt the 200/50 package will receive those speeds.  My suggestion is to call 3BB support at 1530.  Explain the low-speed issue and ask them to do a diagnostic test.  A tech can identify any problems online and make any adjustments.  You should be getting the speeds you are paying for and if not, you should insist the issue be resolved.  Your issue is probably the result of an old outdated service line that can't carry the higher data speeds.

Can using a VPN result in a download/upload speed reduction?

I ask because we're on the 30MB service yet we often get buffering when downloading movies etc from overseas, with speed test showing less than 10MB download speed.

It is like the tide some hours speeding and most hours crowling or even nearly stand still.

After 2300 till 0400 hrs with a dip at 0000 to 0030 good speed the rest sluggish abd draining

Have had 15 locations and all the same problem when using 3BB.

As well problem with reaching secured site like banking sites

Not sure why this is because mobile not have this problem.

landline and fiber are different connected then the mobile system as ai understood this from the jasmine engineers and the true online engineers.

all problems we have are since end of 2016.

Reported them many times and verified also many times that the reported problems are really a problem of speed and connection.

Simplified the light beam or electrical signal is active is there only the logic can not make the communication over the carrier with the speed as you expect it can have based on the location of the server you communicated with. As well the connection is not stable to the higher protocol levels or is changed by ip address.

I have the 200 / 100 service. When it was first upgraded, I only got 50/ 20. The engineer came and realized they had not changed the Router, so with a quick change, we were up to the 200 / 100 as expected.

I noted with great interest that when he was commissioning the router along with his buddy in the central office, the first ping he sent returned 700 / 400 !!  I asked him to leave it at that, but he smiled and the office guy turned it down to 200 / 100. However it does seem that in Samui anyway, 3BB are getting ready or are already ready for much higher speeds.

That would depend entirely on where the VPN is located and the connection between you and the VPN node.

A VPN can both speed up and slow down your connection depending on where it is in relation to where you are and where you're connecting to after the VPN.

I downloaded 3 GB yesterday from a linode server in London, it took about 3-4 minutes to complete, this was direct without the VPN.

This was surprisingly fast so I looked at the traceroute and sure enough there's a direct hop from Bangkok to London (LINX) where linode appears to be hosting my little test VPS. I'll bet that the TV streaming services block every one of the linode IP addresses though...

Edit : I have 3BB fiber and it works pretty well in Hua Hin.
