Hanging wires: Little Hungarian girl suffers neck injury in piggy back ride round Trang

The issue of wires hanging in the street is in the news again after Thai Rath reported that a Hungarian tourist was furious after his four year old daughter suffered a neck injury.

Alin Herman was being taken on a tour around the southern Thai town on the neck of her father Thomas when she was almost thrown to the ground as she got entangled in what was believed to be an electrical wire.

Thomas had to take his little one to see a doctor after the cut was bleeding.

Raiwin Place owner Pimwi-orn Kaewprasomsri said that the Hungarian's along with a businessman friend were staying at her place and had decided to take a walk around the town.

Thai Rath said that Trang is littered with hanging wires. The authorities have done nothing to improve the situation despite the Thai press reporting on the situation before, they said.

Luckily, there was a steady stream of dripping water available from an aircon on the 2nd floor to disinfect the wound. :coffee1:

Whilst the hanging wires are an obvious problem here, maybe just watch where you are going !!!

It's like people falling down drains !! Put your phone away and open your eyes

"a Hungarian tourist was furious after his four year old daughter suffered a neck injury."

And rightly so, furious at himself for being an irresponsible twit.

1. If he had been a responsible adult he would have done some research prior to  visiting Thailand, and especially a backwater like Trang.

2. Common sense  says that one should exercise prudence. Having the child on his shoulders most likely  would have  created a height in excess of 2M, which is above the height of Thais and above the height of 99% of foreigners. If  this man hooked his child on wires, then  he must take responsibility for his dangerous activity.

Talking about "excess height", I remember being in Nong Khai and walking along the footpath past a shop.

As I was looking downwards to avoid the usual holes in the pavement, I missed seeing a horizontal metal pole supporting a fabric awning over a shop. High enough to miss Thais, but not a tall ferang. I hit it with my forehead, unhooking the pole and causing the awning to fall on top of me.

The shop owner rushed out from the shop and was really concerned: She just laughed and laughed. - the absolute truth. Never once asked if I was injured.

Looking back I suppose I was lucky she didn't sue me for damaging her awning.

Yes, all of Thailand hazards are listed in the TAT glossy brochure for all to see!

Yeah, yeah! Of course you are right. Nevermind the hanging wires, that has been complained about in the past and still not been taken care of.

The only real answer then is forget the danger hazards and make a law you can't carry your child on your shoulders if your a farang but it's ok if your a dwarf.if there was a book that existed warning of the dangers of Thailand it would have more pages than the encyclopaedia.probably the father was looking down at the foot path and watching his step and what other dangers were around him,the last place you would be looking is in the sky.in other words what you are saying any person carrying their child on their shoulders is irresponsible.

The endless laughing was because she was concerned that you would ask her for money. Her awning was illegal too.

Yes I think does and while you were looking down at it you could of snagged yourself on the probably illegal cable that has been left low hanging because some d.....head was to lazy to put it out the way.

Damn, I wonder if the statute of limitations has run out yet? It was only twenty years ago.

Knowing my luck the building's probably gone too.

I have to duck for wires and pins in every street in BKK...even in the malls when they have stands inside.

Thai don't give a duck if customers get hurt in their shop or property. It shows how developed they are.

every wire hanging higher than 170cm is save for Thai people, only Farangs have problems with that.

Please read what I quoted, and you will soon find out that my post was a sarcastic response.
