20 years for faking a royal stamp.  He's in a right pickle.    This is karma at its finest hour.

I'm asking a simple question because I'm not familiar with the situation. If it's too much to bear for you, you can always move on right?

No need to move on as I have followed this monk for years, so am able to contribute my extensive knowledgeable opinion.

If you don't have a knowledgeable opinion presently, and want to contribute, you could always research the topic first right? ?

Yes, the one before the current junta.

Or another one, it's part of the political manauvering by the junta to get things in place for the election they must win.

Or another one, they are acting on fraud where other governments didn't.

I don't believe these guys get out of bed for any other reason than to conive and design, and tilt the playing field to their advantage.

But that's just me.

Much appreciated. I was on the sideline of a conversation here in Vietnam about recent "maneuverings" of the current government and wanted to know if this was the same monk. Some of the folks who live here had spent quite a bit of time in Thailand and are equally skeptical about the next round of politics there...we'll see right.

This is a good read in better understanding what's happening on this arrest.

Thanks ThaiBob. I'll definitely check out the article.

The fawning, uneducated sycophants are outraged - well, too bad, so sad, never mind. He (and some others), were probably living the 'good life' because of the merit making (monetary donations) of his followers.

Thanks Bob. Reading that  left me thinking that maybe it was the junta themselves that approved Issara's arrest but didn't expect the clip of the commando style arrest would turn viral. What followed was they have to force to apologies. Someone leak the clip to embarrass him and make him untrustworthy with even his staunch supporters.

Complicated politics and lots of dirty business. No wonder Thai's seem more and more tired looking ever time I've visited in the last 18 months or so.
