Pizzas become popular among Muslims during fasting month

YALA, 26 May 2018 (NNT) – Pizzas have become popular among Muslims during the fasting Ramadan month. 

 

Ms. Naruaini Muhi, the owner of a pizza shop on Siroros road in Yala province, said she had been selling pizzas for over a year with an initial investment of 20,000 baht. 

 

She also offers a franchise for 20,000 baht to interested persons and she currently has 11 branches in provincial seat area, Than To district, Bannangsata district and Srisakorn district of the southern province. 

 

The pizza prices range from 49 to 89 baht and at least 50 pizzas are sold daily during the Ramadan month.

Sitting in restaurant one night and next table was a guy demanding his food ( fried rice dish ) had to be without this, with that etc etc. Watched the owner prepare it and fry with oil that had just had a pork knuckle fried in it.

He was happy to finish the whole platefull.

Just sayin'

Ramadan is supposed to be a month of fasting, the same as Lent , so that people fast and may understand what it is like not to have enough food . 

 

But instead modern Muslims, at least in Indonesia, eat more food during the fasting month than they do normally throughout the rest of the year.

I didn´t know that it was possible to advertise through the actual news channel. Wonder how much she paid for the commercial text about her franchise?
Also thought that the General had monopoly on commercial news flicks.

I hope we get many of these franchises in BKK, NOT in the malls but on sidewalks so we can easy buy one without parkingissues.

I bet you dont get a pizza looking like in the photo for 89 baht.

These are not pizzas; they are 6-inch spongy mini flat breads with a few toppings, smothered in sweetened mayonnaise and sweetened tomato ketchup and gratinated in an induction oven. Yuck!

Noy for me, but everybody has their own preference. 

looks disgusting  (IMHO) ..as above and dont forget will be fake cheese to. Who needs beer to get a big belly when you can eat stuff like this.

True - some actually put on weight during the month.

A Muslim colleague told me that the onus was on the restaurant to honour their promise - so if they claim that a dish is halal but it actually isn't, it is the restaurant owner who is the one who is committing the sinful act. That way, he can eat without any guilt whatsoever, even if he suspects that the dish may not be halal.

Isn't religion ( any ) wonderful. If your next door neighbour is a priest he can get you forgiveness for killing your wife.

I suspect that my wife doesn't make cosher Halal food for me.

The hangover from any religion can be long lasting though - it's not just Catholic or Jewish guilt that holds people tight. One of my best friends is an Iranian non practising Muslim. He and his wife have brought their kids up with no religious influence and they are completely non secular. He and I would often go for curry and a few beers after work, but even though he was eating non halal and drinking beer, we always had to refer to the pork madras as 'not beef madras'.

So can a Buddhist monk. Just give him some baskets and he'll forgive all. Oh sorry, Thainess is different. 

   Most of them are already not slim, so they will be a little fatter no problem

Well I’m quite tempted- 20000 for a franchise does not sound too bad ( I presume the oven is not included!)

As some people pay attention to correct English use, the plural of Pizza is PizzE and not Pizzas. For that reason it is also called Pizzeria and as English has taken over the Italian way of pluralism, it is Ravioli (single Raviolo), Salami (single Salame) and Fettuccini (single Fettuccine).

You can, however, use "pizza" as both a countable and a non-countable. You can have five pizzas/lots of pizzas (separate, countable pizzas).

Sorry but pizza is now an international word (and food).

Thainess is as good as and usually better than most of its competitors.

Clearly it is better than what you are used to otherwise why move.
