Video: Round the bend in more ways than one - driver in lucky escape!

Dash cam footage widely viewed on Thai social media showed yet another appalling example of driving.

Just as a driver got round a bend he was faced with an oncoming green truck taking up virtually the whole of the roadway.

Only quick action in driving to the edge of the road on the left avoided a head on collision and certain death.

The driver posted on Facebook on the "Desh Srd" page saying: "Terrible driving - you're big and you don't care about other road users".

Almost 2 million netizens viewed the clip - and many echoed the poster's thoughts condemning the mad driving.

OK.. thats somewhat of an exaggeration...  But there is no way this truck driver is unaware that the end result of this stupid blind overtake is that he could end up killing an innocent person or family.

These actions really do need punishing to the most severe extent of the law.

This is not simply dangerous driving, its attempted manslaughter.

Notice also how the hard shoulder peters out just in front of the car driver after he took evasive action. If he had been a few seconds earlier he might have had nowhere to go but the bushes.

I can't make out the licence plate on that truck, but if the police can they should take that potential murderer to court and strip him of his licence for 10 years.

I've been pushed off the road like that more times than I want to recount.  Police do nothing, so it continues forever.  There may be rules, but there truly is no enforcement here in the Land of Scary-driving.   It's the Roads of Anarchy here in the LOS.  Drive as you will is the whole of the law.  And that is exactly how Thais drive, hence the well earned moniker: "The World's Most Dangerous Roads!!!"

"Corners are the perfect place to overtake because everybody slows down to navigate them".

Think like a Thai and you will live longer.

Most Thai drivers have no idea of clearance on their off side....or near side for that matter....

In case the incident happens...brack failure or the other was in the wrong way.

As has already been said by others, this is the standard level of competency for Thai drivers not just truck drivers. Any competent government would be ashamed of the standard and how they are perceived by the rest of the world and act to improve it.

Nobody is dead, so the police do nothing

No need for that long sentence "Most Thai drivers have no idea" would have sufficed.

Trucks behave as if the road is theirs and other vehicles are just an annoyance.

This behavior will persist until pigs fly or police begin to practice law enforcement.

The only reason the car driver is still alive or not seriously hurt is that he/she had a bit of space to go 'off-road'. That space isn't always there along Thai roads - lucky car! Well controlled evasive action too.

Sorry to say I have been in this situation myself at least 4-5 times. Should never be allowed to drive again like most countries would have ruled.

Thais over taking to gain nothing in time is a national pass time !!

The dash cam driver stayed cool under what is a normal maneuver to avoid another pratt!!!

Seriously I see moves like that almost daily here in Thailand. You have to drive to expect this, pretty much like the guy in the video did. Sad but true!

Number of the truck maybe seen in slow mo , truck probably has a 14 year old driver . How can you legislate for complete axxholes actions like that ?

On route 24 two weeks ago I was among 6 other cars on the dual carriage way and we were doing in excess of the    90 kph which although wrong did not seem a problem on a long and straight road until a large double trailer truck decided to do a "u" turn from the opposite carriage way into our stream of traffic . I could see him emerging but never thought he would fully pull out but thats what he did and caused one car to go off to the rough hard shoulder and the rest of the cars to do an emergency stop . Not only did he pull out but he was followed by several another similar vehicles causing a tail back of vehicles on our side   .  They are  either stupid or do not give a toss about the consequences .

I have seen the new Thai highway patrol cars at road blocks but never patrolling the highways .

Nobody died, not even injured. Just a normal Thai day on roads

Nothing special here...

Why is the truck license plate digitally blurred and not visible?

Are my eyes getting that bad ?

He clearly needs to be "outed"
