Hi,

I want to get a new passport in Phuket Town for my daughter, any idea of good times to go ? ie Can we head down at 1pm and get processed that afternoon or should we go at the crack of dawn ?

(And do we need an Original Thai birth certificate ? The EX might have mislaid it ....!!! but I have copies and also I my daughter's previous Thai passport)

Cheers

I have no personal experience with phuket, but a few weeks ago my GF wanted to apply for a passport in Udon and when we arrived there at about 10am they told us that no queue numbers for this day were left, so there were people who maybe got the queue number at 9am to be processed at close to 4pm. Of course it might be different in Phuket, but maybe you should be there early ?

Phuket is completely different; no queues, no running out of tickets, friendly staff... etc.

Last time we were there (phuket) we were in and out under 30 minutes. Smiles all around and perfect service.

Morning !

Quick update for any noobs who need to get Thai kids Passports :

Today, Monday morning, Popped down to Phuket City Hall as per Ubonjoe (and Google Maps).

It was raining so took almost an hour from Cherngtalay on a Monday Morning (Mainly Heroines traffic)

Arrived circa 8.45am, circled the car park twice then parked outside on the road.

Showed Tabiian Baan, Daughters Thai Birth Certificate and Mum & Dads passports at the entrance

Was No.16 in the Queue. Guess they started at No.1 cos 5 minutes later we were being processed.

510 minutes later Paid the 1040thb, passport will be EMS posted.

Easiest thing I've ever achieved in Thailand in 14 years I'd say...

Now for the UK Passport ...

Agree with BOB12345 above, ie smiles all round and perfect service ...

Cheers,

SB.

Cannot speak for Phuket but have visited the Chiang Mai Office on two occasions first for our daughter’s passport and then for my wife’s renewal.

It is the most efficient Thai government department ever visited the staff were without exception friendly, efficient and helpful.

With our daughter they took numerous photos and let us choose the one we wanted.

Don't know about Phuket or renewal for a child, but last month in Chiang mai all that was needed was id + old passport. After filling the forms and handing to the reception staff, didn't even have time to sit before got called to the booth. Didn't like the first pic so they took another. Was out of there in less than 15 minutes and the passport arrived by mail few days later
