This morning I found snake in the middle of my bedroom. It could not run away quickly because of glossy surface. Got it in scoop and let it go to the backyard.

Decided to find out what is the specie.

Ring-necked snake found throughout much of the United States, central Mexico, and southeastern Canada.

What did it do in Bangkok? Sightseeing?

I think that you will find that this is simply a juvenile of a more common local snake. Contact Vern Lovic on FB Thailand Snakes and other Reptiles and he will identify it for you.

I agree he's likely a juvenile of something common, not sure what.

Do try the Facebore page, sadly Vern is no longer doing IDs via Thailandsnakes.com so the Facebook group is your best bet.

EDIT This is Vern's snake ID PDF, I don't see anything like our OP

You wouldn't want to pick up a baby cobra like that in your hand no matter how cute, they have a full dose of venom as soon as they are born :crying:

Baby snakes do not have full dose venom as a grown, but grown snakes control their venom better, and in many cases only give warning bites.

Im sure you can ask in one of the fb pages to id your snake. Snakes of Hua Hin is a very active page, just remember to add location where you see the snake.

Baby cobras may be cute but they can blind, paralyze, and often kill you.

Friend got spat at by a small baby one just a few inches long in Mandai Area of Singapore, whilst we were out biking,  very nearly lost site in one eye.

Snakes have full venom from birth. Agreed adult snakes can chose to give a dry bite of a venom bite

Im talking about the volum of venom, not only the ability to give dry bites.

So he crawled down on his knees to have a better look? Spitting cobra doesnt have a huge range spitting venom! I will leave it to the experts telling the facts, but I doubt any spitting cobra (Naja siamensis) spitt longer than their body length. I read up to 4 feet, and they do not get much longer than 4-5 feet long.
