A deputy director of a Suphanburi school has hit back at claims that he pocketed a government fund meant to provide students with snacks.

The story hit the Thai media after allegations made online by someone who said they were a teacher at Phawanaphimon Withaya School in Suphanburi.

The scandal involved the delivery of 2,000 items such as cakes per day at a cost of three to four baht each.

Netizens commented that it appeared to be another example of a corrupt school taking the money for themselves but Pramote Klomkliang said this was not the case.

He said that in fact the claims came from a disgruntled employee who was sacked on April 1st for gross misconduct.

He said that the teacher concerned was taking time off work then presenting bogus medical certificates.

They had already caused the school considerable harm now they were trying to make matters worse.

A district official in U-Thong who is the son of the deputy director Suphamat Klomkliang is also caught up in the drama.

Both father and son intend to go to police today to press charges of computer based defamation against the former teacher.
