The difference here, he was detained by German authorities on an immigration issue, not at the request of the RTP.

Therefore, the RTP can't just fly in and pick him up. So they wasted those 14 seats ?

Applications for extradition will have to be made before they can whisk him out of there...

Yes mate but do not forget who is behind this fiasco....ole fatty, now anything he is involved in turns into a major cock up.

Another point i am the big cheese of the RTP, hand him over now, or i will get upset.

A lot of cops went on holiday if they need 14 seats for the return trip.

Everyone knows that Thailand   only arrest people for political  purpose.      wont work in democratic country !'

Is that Thai Buddhism? Cheaters, liars, and criminals?

Grilling monks? I thought the dark days of the reformation, counter reformation, and grisly martyrdom were 400 years behind us.

Why do you need 14 seats? Two officers are sufficient to escort him back to Thailand. Sounds like a jolly for someone

Some would and seem to want to regress back to feudal times !

All confused again

Just not Prawit's "time" to get this guy yet. ?

and that still leaves 10 seats.

He said the team had purchased 14 seats on a Bangkok-bound Thai Airways flight ...

Do they mean to say they actually paid money  for the seats ...Now that would be a first .

He is not going back. The imbecile posse will return empty handed (except for shopping bags).
He gets to keep everything to himself, salted away next door in his Swiss bank account.
The monks they have in custody will be forced to pay what they should have paid according to the upstream corruption protocol. That is their crime. Cheating the boss. Then they are free to go wherever they want to. Perhaps.
Thailand is in a free for all societal and corruption freefall.
Only radical events can change this.
Otherwise it will continue ad Infinitum in its cyclical mess.

Are the PM, DPM and Foreign Minister all on the same page? :whistling:

Gotta love it all hey,  an international issue and the foreign minister hasn't a clue as to what is going on. Too busy trying to dig up a dead friend who gave him shares.

Keystone comes to mind ! Maybe enough room to bring back mr.redbull ?

14 seats???? How many does it take?

14 people frog marching him through an airport makes it look like they've caught a super fugitive and of course they all get another medal for bravery outside of their kingdom.watch out for the super star show when they land in bkk.

Shortage of charcoal briquet's in Deutschland?  Too bad.  I heard Thai monks are in season this year!  :whistling:

Speaking of pushing the boundaries of corruption unscathed, I see little 'p' has his honking big watch covered up by his suit sleeves.  Must suck to have them but be unable to flaunt them in public, 'eh?
That's probably a BPM Smartwatch and he's off to run a 5k after the news conference?

Can just imagine General Prawit saying  before having that photo

took, wait a minute till I adjust my sleeve.

Regarding the Police going off mob handed ,13 to collect 1 Monk, !

could they not have phoned their counterparts in Germany if it would

be OK to come and bring him back,so looks like it's party time for a

few days till they decide what to do .

They'll have to put the monk in the cooler - keep him fresh for grilling at a later date.

I thought cannibalism had been made illegal in Thailand (and Germany). Plus I'd imagine, the old guy probably would be pretty tough!  :glare:

Perhaps a slow cooker interrogation would yield tastier results.

Yeah, police and slow are pretty synonymous.

However, even after the grilling I still see it as a dog police eat dog monk world.

I suppose if it leaves them with a bad taste in the mouth, they could always try desert, even though in the army it is a court marshalling offence: No solder may help another to desert.

It's either feast or famine in the monk busting business....

:sorry:

I am the big cheese, German reply so what, your are in our country and that means nothing.

"Do you know who I am?"

"No, I don't - where did you say you are from, was it Vietnam?"

Correct, this is Thailand remember - haven't quite caught up yet.

Formal extradition isn't the only way to deal with it.

Formal extradition isn't an option as Thailand only has an extradition treaty in Europe with Belgium.

So it would have to be an informal extradition.

I suspect that as the charge is related to a "white collar crime," was not transnational and claim of religious/political persecution by a military junta, Phra Phrommedhi's possible request for asylum will be given serious review.

Sure but at the end of the day, RTP can't just rock up and take the guy back with them...

Which is how it reads ?

Oh, yes we can, well I think we can, can't we?
