There have been many discussions about what is the point of getting an ID card here. Well, over the past couple of days we took a trip down to Ranong and went into a couple of National Parks. The first was Lamnamkraburi National Park where on production of the card I was charged Thai price of 20 baht instead of 100 baht.

The other park was Namtok Ngao National Park where we got in for free to see the waterfall there. This could have been because we got there  just before 17.00 and they close around 18.00(A beautiful sight and pleasant walk to the base.) Then on visiting Pornrung Hot Spring the next day, and this comes under the same National Park, I again was charged the same as the Thais at 20 baht instead of 100 baht.

In the past when going into Sam Phan Nam Floating Market near Hua Hin, producing the card has got me in for free instead of 200 baht. So they do have there uses when levelling dual pricing over here.

Sadly - not in Khao Yai.

Am a PR - with a Pink ID Card.  Went to Khao Yai a couple of weeks ago - stayed 2 nights in the park with my Thai family.  Entrance Fees - them 40 baht; me 400 baht.  To say that gives me the sh#ts is a gross understatement.  I will never go back there - damn shame as it is lovely

20 baht 200 baht only want to see once if you want to go again and again OK.

Get the Mrs to buy the tickets with you out of sight and walk in, rarely they say anything.?

It depends on the park (sometimes, might also depend on who's selling the ticket?).  I was at one recently where one of the people in the group tried to use his Thai DL to get the Thai price... nope... the rule was, Thai ID *and* Thai national (this was actually posted right on the sign).

Yes - that was the message spelled out in a letter that was shown as justification (although it referred to foreigners with Work Permits)
