Suspected suicide of Kuwait National in Central Pattaya

Police Lieutenant Colonel Manot from Pattaya Police Station was called to Room Number 31 on the Ground Floor of the Dom Apartments in Soi Dang-Dum in Central Pattaya after receiving information of a suspicious death of a foreign man at the location. Inside the room, Police inspected the badly decomposed body of Mr. Abdullah Sun Aljataili aged 53 from Kuwait.

A search of the room soon produced clues as to the possible cause of death. A knife was found near the body and a note which Police assume was written by the victim stated that he was angry at a woman who had lied to him. The note included swear words suggestion he was in a highly-charged emotional state when the note was written.

Khun Sooksom aged 38 is married to the victim and came to identify the body at the room. She explained that she had separated from him some months ago after constant arguing strained the relationship. He then moved into this room and was known to take women back there on a regular basis. It is believed that problems with a relationship with one of these women led to this apparent suicide.

It is currently not known how the man died and an external examination of the body was inconclusive due to the severe decomposition of the body. It is thought that the man died at least 10 days previous to the discovery of the body. Police are now locating Khun Kanitar aged 30 who was believed to be the last person to see him alive.

The victim’s motorbike is also thought to be in her possession. A post mortem examination is now underway and the Police investigation continues.

Classic post, Libya. One of the best for a while. "Knife near body" "swear words" "suspected suicide" "motorbike in her possession". Police jumping to quick conclusions, sod investigating, it's too much effort, quintessential Thailand. I love it.

Points not mentioned in report..

Victim stabed himself in the back 8 times and and then he run over himself with the motorcycle twice and then he wrote the letter before dieing..

Yep it was suicide :o

A handwriting analysis could determine who wrote that in about 1 minute.

Naaah, sod that! It might muck up the convenient suicide theory. It uses the f-word once so it must be the foreigner. Hold on, he's Arab. Never mind khaek same same farang.

Seriously though, look at the r's. They look very like khor khai to me.

I’m no handwriting specialist but something with this note doesn’t look right to me.

Why would a native Arabic writer in an emotional mood write a suicide note in English?

On a daily basis I see documents hand written in English by Arabs. The slant of the writing and the signature on this note just doesn’t look right for someone who normally writes from right to left.

After 8 1/2 years of teaching in Saudi, I can assure you that the above note was not written by a Gulf Arab man, and it sure looks just like a Thai woman's writing.

Why didn't this woman think about why the dead man had not come looking for her for his bike in 10 days? Why she hadn't heard from him? Anyone COULD look in his room to find other paper on which he had written a note and compare the writing.

Odds of this happening are??

On a daily basis I see documents written by Thais and, trust me, it looks very like Thai handwriting. For a start the fact that the letters are written individually, the t's, the r's and I could go on. Even the laziness in not spelling you. This was clearly written by a Thai. A child could see that. But it does not fit the theory-cum-fact so it wasn't! :o

IMHO There is absolutely no way an Arabic Kuwait Subject wrote this note.

Arabic syntax centre on tri-consonantal routes. This note was written by a person who was not born in the Middle East.

The K that is almost perfect Roman (latin) script. The V's are also perfect Roman (latin). The lower case y gives it away (uncial Roman).

Ok, ok.........so he didn't write the note !

But its still suicide................isn't it ?

I too am no handwriting expert, bluddy obvious if you ever see my handwriting, but while I agree the writing looks to be not by an Arab, I have worked with Arabs enough to see that, it looks too good to be a Thai BG/ ex BG/ho with the exception of the final epithet. As far as I can see it doesn't mention suicide but I can't make out all of it. The style of the writing appears very calm and collected, if a bit disjointed, and the opening line "When I fall in love..." a love song title doesn't gel with the final venomous statement.

Couldn't make out the entire note and didn't see the 'S' word mentioned. Perhaps an old love letter from the girl (whoever) to the man now defiled after she's done the dirty on him.

Elementary dear Watson, just don't give up the day job Phil. :o

No doubt the BiB will have it wrapped up before we can say Inspector Morse.
