The Chinese Embassy in Bangkok on Thursday expressed concerns over reports of China-originated electronic trash being brought into Thailand and allegations that some Chinese businessmen were involved in the illegal importation of the industrial waste for separation or recycling as reported in the local media.

The embassy said in the statement that China,  like other developing countries, also suffered from the importation of electronic trash into its country and, therefore, was fully aware of the concern of the Thai people towards the problem and didn’t want to see Thailand being burdened by the same problem.

The embassy said that Chinese and Thai governments had been cooperating in environmental conservation and would promote the exchange of technical knowhow with the government in environmental conservation

Is it illegal? I thought I read the other day that some Thai companies had been granted approval to import this e-garbage. Maybe it is only illegal for those who import it without authority and have to pay the required customs "fee" so as NOT to have their containers inspected.

China could bury Thailand hundreds of times over with their waste as the are the biggest hypocrites concerning any green policy.

On the other hand Thailand is being buried with approx 10,000,000 of Chinese tourists last year. Maybe their e waste is better?

Good one.

Deflect from contributing to Thailand's problems with Chinese e-waste by making China the victim.

All to often with any exports, China takes the attitude any export is good so long as China benefits, ie., toxic agricultural pesticides, chemicals to make addictive drugs such as meth, plastic rice, etc.
