Donald Trump survived a second assassination attempt on Sunday when a gunman armed with an assault rifle was spotted near the former president’s golf course.

 

A Secret Service agent opened fire on the man while Trump was playing at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, prompting the suspect to flee.

 

The man, in his 50s, was later apprehended by the West Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office following a traffic stop on I-95.

 

After the incident, Trump issued a defiant statement. "There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors spiral out of control, I want you to hear it first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!" he wrote in a campaign message to reassure supporters.

Apart from Simple1 comment that attempt is alleged until proven in a court of law, the so-called attempt amounted to planning an assassination and never got to the actual firing a weapon at Trump. As its legal in Florida to open carry any gun, prosecution will have to prove "intent to attack Trump".

They use the term alleged or apparent even when he got hit in the head in PA. Allegedly some people are dishonest and/or stupid I cant prove it in court. This should take Kamala out  of the news cycle because all we ever care about is how the polling goes. I can imagine her addressing the issue by saying she is middle class and appreciates people that care for lawns like a golf course.

Until more is known about the alleged attacker, motivation for the alleged attack plan may actually come from a radical right who is angry that Trump apparently will not win the election because of his own political failures and bring an end to Project 2025, bring to an end nationalists' hopes of a Putin-styled dictatorship.

It appears he was not shot. And Florida has very liberal gun laws. So, someone in his vicinity was carrying a gun.
