BANGKOK, 18th June 2018 (NNT) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is expediting the construction of a 1.25 kilometer road tunnel on Phatthanakan-Ramkhamhaeng Road. Now nearing the halfway point at some 46%, the construction is expected to be completed in October this year.

Deputy Governor of Bangkok Chakkaphan Phiew-ngam went to the construction site on Sunday to follow up on the progress of the delayed tunnel project. After the tunnel is completed, the road above it will be resurfaced in December this year.

The tunnel will add two more traffic lanes to the four-lane roadway.

The tunnel construction’s contract started on 21st April 2016 and expired on 10th April this year. However, the construction has been extended by 184 days due to some earlier obstacles.

The deputy governor told the contractor to put people's safety first since Phatthanakan-Ramkhamhaeng Road is very busy. The construction must not cause any problems for pedestrians, he said.

it took over 2 years to do 46%, now they'll do the rest in 4 months?

This can only mean one thing: Big Joke is on the case, or even in the backhoe!

Yah, Right.  Try to get to The Londoner from the opposite side of the street.

To reduce impact on the environment they had to go very deep, but delays we caused when they hit the foundations of buildings in China.

Either that or they're using an exponential time scale.

Are there bets being taken on this?

There would be, if only anyone could find a suitable pretty to take their money.
