NLA, DLT and DDD sign MOU to boost road safety

BANGKOK, 20 June 2018 (NNT) - Thailand's National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Land Transport (DLT) and the Don't Drive Drunk (DDD) Foundation to promote road safety, launching a campaign seeking videos inspiring social awareness of the issue.

Vice President of the NLA, Surachai Liengboonlertchai, as chair of the NLA’s emergency coordination committee, explained at the signing ceremony that its intention is to reduce loss of life on roadways.

He added that the DLT has received 2.32 million baht in support of its road safety programs, which it will use to carry out activities and campaigns instilling safe driving etiquette in road users.

All three bodies are confident the agreement will lead to further collaboration in the future.

DLT and DDD are now running a program seeking video clips inspiring road users to drive more safely and to be aware of road dangers that emerge from risky behavior and inappropriate practices.

Those interested can submit videos from their dash cameras or other devices to the Cameraclub Facebook page where police will take action against any wrongdoing and three submissions will be chosen for a 20,000 baht reward and certificate of recognition.

when road deaths will only ever drop when the police are made to go on the roads to enforce the rules and to pull over all those breaking the law this is entirely useless and just another way to waste money, the police are the ones that need to actually do something, that and making drivers/riders obey the laws

how many abbreviations do they need ? a  load of ole C.R.A.P

A MOU.

Geez, that  will do it.

I would genuinely hope this has some effect on reducing the drink-driving statistics.

The best way is video footage and the reality of accidents, and showing what happens to the life of any survivors afterwards.

But I have to be realistic by saying all that will happen is most people will avoid looking at any gruesome videos - the usual way of avoiding responsibility by ignoring it.

Unless as tits on a boar.

This will do S. F. A.

Stop Futile Accidents?

oh boy!  another committee!  what's the takeaway from this story?

1....the DLT has received 2.32 million baht in support of its road safety programs

2. ....All three bodies are confident the agreement will lead to further collaboration in the future.

Until the Royal Thai Police also sign a MOU underlining their work as well nothing will change . Their current work ethic is fire brigade policing, never Pro active always RE-active.

Dissolve the police force, then start from scratch

That's nice. problem solved, good job. :giggle:

You catch lawbreakers on your dash camera, while we will sit in our airconditioned armchair lounge reviewing clips. Thank you.

Traffic law enforcement and and stiff fines! Not bloody memos. Sheesh!

There, see how easy it is to reduce the road death toll. Three signatures on a piece of paper and problem solved. Why didn't someone think of that before?

The MOU, between the DLT, DDD & NLA henceforth know as the 555 initiative.
