DUBLIN (Reuters) - Brexit talks must intensify over the summer, particularly on the issue of the Irish border, or Britain risks being unable to withdraw smoothly from the European Union, Ireland's foreign minister said on Thursday.

"We had asked for and looked for significant progress in June. The British government have been unable to deliver on that, that is frustrating for everybody but if anything the negotiations need to intensify, particularly on the Irish backstop element of the withdrawal agreement," Simon Coveney told national broadcaster RTE.

"But let's be very clear, there will be no withdrawal agreement, no transition agreement and no managed Brexit if the British government do not follow through on their clear commitments in writing to Ireland and the whole EU as a whole."

Lets clear this up if you - what you describe is WTO and Ireland is a very big looser indeed, so maybe you should put your efforts into making sure it happens instead of constant obstruction. Go have a word with your mate Barnier instead of mouthing off at the UK

If Brexit happens with no deal Ireland will be well and truly screwed. They know that but haven't got a clue how to deal with it.

Threatening the UK, the country that helped them avoid going down the pan after the financial crisis, and sucking up to the EU, who didn't do much to help, isn't smart.

Come on Ireland, get your thinking caps on.

Even more so if we send all their citizens back, especially the 'travellers".

Stuff the irish and the other "pig" countries..the " pigs" should not have been invited to join the eu.
All they do.is TAKE..not give.
Sooner the UK.is out of the dying eu the better.

The UK should just not put border controls up. If Ireland/EU puts up border controls, up to them.

Probably time for Ireland to jump ship and cut the EU loose. They are about to become a net contributor

and there largest trading partner is the UK. Time for them to push the EU to make a reasonable offer

to the UK on there relationship going forward or they will move on as well.
