Just for the record I think lots of Thai women are beautiful but that’s my opinion. As other posters have said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. 

 

It appears to me that a "troll post" is one that a reader happens not to like, to everybody else it's just a topic for discussion and debate. Not all posts are trolling is my point. I travel a good bit and have spent quite some time in South East Asia, with Thailand as a base. The attraction of Thailand was convenience and other advantages, but not the local ladies. I've been watching a few You Tube videos about Thailand and the Philippines and the "beautiful" prefix comes up time and again. There's nothing wrong with them, I like them as people just fine, but it just struck me that western males seem to have them on a pedestal that they don't deserve to be on. And I just wondered if it was just me that thought they were okay, but not special? 

 

A related point is that when you put women on a pedestal you tend to make mistakes ... like Ted in My Thai Bride?

 

And some comments have been hilarious ... but I hope people take the question and the thread in good humour.

I left the western world just after I was 21, but I have been with Western women since. I see lots of western women here now. Older age does seem to make it worse on Western women, but many of the younger ones show the same traits.

Well actually the definition of a troll post is one that is intended to be controversial or inflammatory in content. The sole intent is to create emotional, angry responses from readers. As this is a Thai site and lots of members have Thai gf’s or wife’s your post could be construed as controversial by labelling their other half’s ugly. However, I do find the replies highly entertaining. As I said earlier, you’ve done well in stirring up the masses. Well done and I will look forward to future posts from you ?

I live in Bahia and there are incredible malls there where the women rate right up there with NYC which many consider has the highest concentration of hot girls anywhere. Go to the beach where I live on a weekend and you will see more hotties in one afternoon than you will see in Pattaya in a year. So many girls prostitution does'nt work because of the over supply.

There are a lot of grey areas in life. It's a whole new world now. There's even a category of people called "genderqueer" or "gender non-binary", describing people who don't identify with either sex. If I had stated that I think Thai girls are all ugly harridans you might well have a point. But all I said was that they are not that special, are not my preference and shouldn't be put on a pedestal. Hardly an outrageous statement.

I completely agree. Really the issue with our own women is often socialization. Women's rights movements and gender equality are good things but they created a female culture that is wholly unattractive. Argumentative, aggressive, opinionated women. 

 

We have the Thai men and Thai culture to thank for Thai women's demure, deferential attitude. They let us men be men!
