Cupping is a traditional form of Chinese medicine that placing cups on skin and decreases the pressure using heat or a suction method. In some cases, herbal oil is applied on the skin to easily move the cups.

Place the cups for 5-15 minutes on the skin and that purposely cause the red bruised skin and blood congestion for treatment. Although the skin’s color after removing the cups is scary, it does not hurt.

Some patients’ skins are easily bruised but the cups can be adjusted to fit the patients’ conditions. Importantly, please inform the doctor if you feel any pain.

Another method is boiling in water which normally used with bamboo tube. Regarding to other methods that may have flame inside the tube, be very careful not to burn or expose to the skin. Do not try cupping at home without supervision.
