Excellent news. It would have been very hard for the coach to be in there on his own. I hope they have continued success and by later today, they will all be safely above ground.

  • No reason to try to make it faster, safety is paramount.

Just wondering. Is the last man out going to clean up the cavern of thermal blankets, litter etc. before the onset on the monsoon. Would hate to see these items wash further down the caves to do irrepairable damage elsewhere!

Just an off topic thought. Good luck to the remaining 5 and their brave rescuers.

Equipment and other things is not important here  the boys and coatch and the rescue workers are

UNCONFIRMED but AP reports seeing ambulance leave the rescue site as speculation mounts ninth boy has been rescued

The Caver's Mantra:

"Take nothing but photographs: leave nothing but footprints."

Although they probably leave the guide ropes in place as well...

My worry would be if the tanks come lose and got swept along by the water, they could sustain serious damage - hope they'd all get depressured if they do leave them.

Unconfirmed: Ninth boy rescued from cave. Ambulance seen leaving Tham Luang site, AP reports. #Thailandcave

Seeing as how the Thai Navy is involved, presumably the equipment belongs to Thailand the country, rather than any individual. As such, would they not be written off if they cannot be recovered both safely and at reasonable cost?  Rather like equipment lost in a war zone?

Another who-cares sub-thread. But my guess would be the owners will write the stuff off, and the tanks will be salvaged by villagers next year and sold on to Phuket tour dive operators who will let Chinese tourists trust their lives to it.

My guess would be that the tanks will be sold like devotionalia as having been used in THE rescue. Probably more than those used will get sold ... ?

To the leaving of the tanks inside: This is still an emergency OP. Peoples life should not be put to risk for mere material.

Being reported on Skynews now.

The Thai Navy SEALs have shared a tribute to the Australians and other international teams helping with the rescue of the trapped soccer team.

The cartoon was posted on the SEAL's Facebook page after a second successful day in the rescue of the 12 boys and their coach from a flooded cave.

The image shows a kangaroo in the flooded cave, representing the 19-strong team of Australians who are helping Thai authorities.

The post says the artist’s work symbolises "taking the boar home".

The cartoon includes 13 boars, representing the members of the football team who go by the name the Wild Boars.

Brilliant that all are safe and well.

I think we are now seeing the start of the excessive emoting sometimes known as  'Diana Syndrome'

I really hope for them that everything is over within today. Good luck and welcome back!

Great news !

I really hope that there are no last minute hitches and that this terrible ordeal for the lads and their soccer coach ends with everybody coming out unharmed.
