Importing Rootstock Seeds into Thailand

Featured Replies

I can get a supply of certified rootstock seeds from Australia, but the Aus company won't send them until I get some certificates to import from Thailand.

Anyone know the proceedure to import seeds into Thailand?

To make it short, forget it if you want to do it the legal way.

I speak from own experiences trying to import seeds through my university for research purposes. It is a pain and never worked out to be happen.
Thailand is not a member of some convention the protects breeders rights so a lot of companies don't want to ship seeds to Thailand.
Another thing are the antiquated quarantine rules where Thai authorities don't give a **** about certified disease free seeds from abroad.
They must be tested beforehand in Thailand which takes time and headaches.

So I switched to another way, doing it so to say illegally. Of course this can only be done for small amounts.
I did it either the way that seed companies agreed to send it by themselves but gave wrong declaration on the package or the other way when I had friends in this country they would purchase the seeds for me and send as a personal gift package to Thailand.

Good luck for your undertaking!
