Good.

Illegal location for a restaurant as the structure would have been built on the shore front which is supposed to be open and public  space held by the crown.

The customers were therefore engaged in the support of an illegal activity.

Why aren't the owners charged with land encroachment?

Asian tourists.... they kept arriving and walking into the hole for a good hour till somebody noticed and  blocked it off...

Love to have that video complete with the guy with the flag leading them in. Actually it's not beyond the realm of possibility especially if they thought there was  an all you can eat buffet.

I'm sure a very thorough police investigation into the collapse will conclude:

A. too many heavy people eating in one place.

B. the restaurant owner forget to wear his amulets today.

C. a runaway speed boat from Phuket hit the support beams causing the collapse.

Take your pick!

They all jumped at the same time during a replay of the world cup semis.

Gees.

Such wooden structure sometimes makes me feel uneasy. I am sure some of you know the 'boardwalk' at the Koh Tao pier, also called Mae Haad Pier (well, the situation is possibly quite similar at some other piers throughout Thailand). I have had to use it several times and felt a bit uneasy (and, it is a bit of a longish walk). So many people use it every day (often, dozens at a time; and don't forget the heavy luggage some people carry).

70 diners fell through that hole? I wonder why they were all standing so close together? Waiting to be seated?
The live seafood tanks appear to have survived, so obviously no lobsters were injured.

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect

Almost 70 square meters isn't small. They didn't have to be that close.
