DPM Prawit urges relevant agencies to speedily resolve hazardous waste problems

BANGKOK, 2nd August 2018 - A deputy prime minister has disclosed that he has already urged all relevant state agencies to speed up efforts to resolve problems related to hazardous waste. 

Spokesman of the Defense Ministry Lt. Gen. Kongcheep Tantravanich said on Wednesday that Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon earlier chaired a meeting of the National Environment Board, which discussed approaches to achieving sustainable management of green space. 

The discussion was organized in accordance with government policy, which calls for more green space within urban areas. 

The National Environment Board accordingly set a target to boost the size of green space per person to no less than 15 square meters, according to Lt. Gen. Kongcheep. 

He added that the meeting now plans to propose all approved plans to the Cabinet for consideration. 

The Defense Ministry’s spokesman went on to say that Gen. Prawit told the meeting that relevant agencies must follow up on efforts to handle hazardous waste problems in a timely manner while promoting the garbage separation policy among the public.

And to set an example he climbed inside the hazardous waste container, agreeing with journalists he was way past being recyclable.
